Tonke Dragt, one of the greatest authors of Dutch literature of my lifetime, has died this Friday, aged 93.

if you don’t read Dutch, try to find a copy of The Towers of February; alternatively, wait for her Venus novels to come out in translation - I heard her most recent translator if planning them next. @bookstodon

Oh, what a writer she was.

First came into contact with her work when "De Zevensprong" was shown on German TV as "Das Geheimnis des siebten Weges" back then(tm).

TIL: Anlässlich des Besuch König Wilhelms I. in wurde im Herbst 1868 auf der Möweninsel in der Schlei eine hölzerne Burg errichtet.

Auf der Möweninsel stand einst die Juriansborg (oder Jürgensburg), die erste Residenz der Herzöge zu Schleswig und quasi-Vorgänger |s. Heute liegt sie unter eine Schicht von etwa 50cm Möwenkot begraben.

Norddeutscher wird's nicht mehr.
