My name is Rythur and I'm a folk artist. I'm also a statistician. I may sound cranky sometimes but really I'm just being honest. I see the world through the lens of the overworked, exploited, tired, abused, and powerless. Why? Because I was born weird and haven't figured out how to shake the designation.

In the amended words of a man laden with issues:

[Little] Internet, [Little] Phones

While techbros have been hyping up how will revolutionize - often describing an almost teacherless classroom 'utopia' - we haven't seen anything like it yet.

"High school students who use generative AI to prepare for math exams perform worse on tests, where they can't rely on AI, than those who didn't use the tools at all, a new study shows."

Our jobs are safe for a few more rounds of AI updates and school budget cuts, at least.

In general,

Half the class or more cannot handle the class.

If you're in the good half, then you have nothing to worry about;

Regardless of "AI" (aka Labor-Destructive Math).

In terms of teaching specifically, it takes a communal focus that is not found in tools found in your set of distractions, such as "AI."

For now, we're fine.
