    I’m sorry but the file picker has been this way since fucking 2004. I was one then, just look how time flies huh. I’m sorry but this issue goes back almost 2 decades of complaining. Seriously.

    BUT! The impossible seems to finally have been done! For applications using GTK4 that is, and I think the application you are using might be GTK3. So sorry, unless it updates the toolkit you won’t have a grid view.

    That’s known, but it’s foolish to think that for example Mastodon isn’t seen as a Twitter alternative. Meta knows that and I think they want to not just be a corporate alternative to twitter, they want to make sure they are the alternative to twitter. The Fediverse has to take measures defending itself or Threads will overtake and stomp over everything, even if the sudden user surge might be appealing to some.

    Many admins are lazy, and they expect their software to run well on sensible defaults, most won’t care and just go with whatever the devs consider to be fine. By choosing wether Meta is blocked or not by default the fediverse will have to take a stance.

    Do we allow extremely powerful corporations that want to monopolize their influence but we get a user surge in the short term.

    Or do we block them by default and anyone making an instance should make the concious choice to join the corpo-verse themselves so we can continue to foster a healthier alternative to whatever they are cooking.

    I’d rather have the latter.

    How deluded do you have to be to think communists don’t read news from a lot of sources?

    Just because the mouthpiece providing us with the news is propagandized doesn’t mean we cannot properly engage with it. We are human beings with brains damn it, what kind of dumbass would uncritically side with everything an article (or worse, whole press houses) espouses.

    And the best part, you prefer to “gotcha” someone, instead of actually engage with the meat of the article.

    Lifestylism is not something that will magically save the planet, there are actors bigger than us and who control more power over the planet then the entire population located on it.

    Also flying less and driving less, you can only do that if the infrastructure is built for it. In Europe? Yeah duh, look at Italy it killed domestic flight thanks to trains. But the US? Forget it! Amtrak fucking sucks, and you still have to drive from your suburb to the train station because viable public transport does not, and will not exist there. It’s been gutted completely by General Motors who essentialy are defacto the US government. (EDIT: The previous statement is to say that the US does not respond to the needs of it’s citizens but to those of capital)

    The true enemies of the world are the shareholders willing to kill it for profit, and they have names and adressess. (Side note; do not commit to adventurism)
