@joncounts @ml @academicchatter @plantscience this last is a good reason to use a csv editor like Modern CSV rather than Excel, it seems to me.

@joncounts @seindal @ml @academicchatter @plantscience imo a spreadsheet program of any kind is the wrong tool for this job; you need to be using a plain text editor, or, better, a csv editor that will leave your data as you entered it. (A csv editor is better because it has rows and columns like a spreadsheet and your columns won't get out of alignment.)

You (anyone reading this) do all your calculations in your statistical software, right?

For every day I spend systematically answering e-mails, I leave dozens of books unread.

I already have an email policy in my syllabus, which says that I prefer to answer questions in class, since we see each other several days a week.
What other tips do you have that have worked for you?

@gonzalo @academicchatter also, drop the worst assignments, weight of missed midterm goes onto the final, no extensions, so that I am not wasting energy judging excuses.

@wormerama @academicchatter @ml if you use the advanced web interface (and you have a wide enough screen), you can add a column for each hashtag you follow.
