Gerald Ford knew Richard Nixon could be prosecuted for his crimes as president – when Ford gave Nixon “a full, free and absolute pardon” 50 years ago.

Most citizens were outraged.

Most people thought Nixon could be prosecuted for the Watergate crimes – until this summer, when ruled in Trump v. United States that presidents had immunity.

Some historians are looking back and seeing the Nixon pardon in a new light:
