Science fiction author, social media assistant, and a peaceful soul who wants to admire all of your pet photos…especially if they’re of rabbits. I’m allergic to most furry pets, so I’m living vicariously through everyone who isn’t. 🐰

I also love to boost and toot about art, fitness, food, prehistory (especially Neanderthals), writing, social justice, and occasional amusing stories from here in Toronto.

A pack horse librarian delivering books in rural Kentucky in 1938. During the Great Depression, the Pack Horse Library Project was a Works Progress Administration (WPA) program in which the librarians, who were often called "book women" or "book ladies," delivered books to remote parts of Appalachia.

Here’s what I’ve been thinking about today:

Did Baby and Johnny end up staying together longterm after the last scene in Dirty Dancing? Or was their relationship a summer fling?

What do you all think?

Today I watched Really Love that had a similar sort of thought-provoking ending: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8722624/

It was good.

While thinking about this modern romance, Dirty Dancing popped into my mind.

(If you have not seen either of these films and you like romantic stuff, go watch them and tell me all of your thoughts :D!)

If anyone is looking for a good biography, I’ve really been enjoying “Medgar and Myrlie: Medgar Evers and the Love Story That Awakened America” by Joy-Ann Reid.

It has a conversational writing style that works well with the stories about Medgar and Myrlie’s life before and during the civil rights era in the U.S. There’s so much about them I never learned in school.

I would love it if Sarah Waters and Becky Chambers both released new books this year.

Which authors do you hope will have new books out in 2024?

I’m tagging @bookstodon to see if they have an opinion, too.

Nettle & Bone by T. Kingfisher was so good. There’s almost always that bit at the beginning of a story when I’m really confused, and I struggle to hold on and get through it. I’m really glad I did! This was one of those stories I stayed up late reading because I had to know what happened. (4.5/5)

I thought this was very good

"Riding the Roller Coaster of Fluctuating Disability"

https://themighty.com/topic/disability/roller-coaster-of-fluctuating-disability/

"When people think about or , they tend to do so in a very black and white sort of way: Either you are completely , or you are not — this is your permanent status, and your disability (or lack thereof) will affect you the same way today as it will tomorrow.

Were it only that simple"
