Mastodon's Founder & CEO Gives His Thoughts on Meta's Threads (blog.joinmastodon.org)

Found this post super informative as it relates to Mastodon, and thought Lemmy might also benefit from this perspective. I’m not sure I share his optimism, but his points seem sound to dampen some of the alarm bells over Meta joining the Fediverse.

I’d like to not embrace the assholes that helped centralize and control the narrative on their massive platforms of idiot users

Headphones only costs money if you want to use their indexer. Ive never paid but does seem like a reasonable way to fund your project.

Why are the lidarr devs assholes? Also I have never experienced any memory leaks to my knowledge and the only time it slows down is if I’m trying to match my entire library

github.com/RandomNinjaAtk/docker-lidarr-extended comes with a bunch ofadditionaldownload scripts like tidall-dl

That is a lie. They are not fabbing their own SOC or any of the camera modules.

Also the SOC in this thing is ancient. Purism seems to be cashing in on the paranoid and gullible.

Yeah its kinda annoying. I guess I just have to assume it got posted when I get a timeout

YSK: No Labels is a political party trying to run a spoiler candidate for President in 2024 that should not be taken seriously.

WYSK: There funded by dark money PACS, but some good reporting has brought out these names: David Koch, Peter Thiel, Reid Hoffman, Mark Cuban, Harlan Crow, and Michael Bloomberg. Some of there members are most famous for stopping big bills. Joe Leiberman, for example, single handedly stopped the single payer portion of the ACA....

Yeah Spock makes this show much better

How's the censorship around here?

The reddit piracy community was in a neverending struggle to avoid being banned from the site, constantly censoring and restricting what people could post to keep the reddit admins happy. What’s the situation with that sort of thing on lemmy? Is it a free for all? Same situation as back there? Something in between? I guess we...

Lemmy is not ideologically diverse. Thoughts?

edit: having a community dedicated to letists only can be a bad idea in that it can make sure your beliefs are not questioned. I have thought myself as a socialist and I have thought myself as a anarcho-capitalist, I don’t believe in either anymore. I think if radical views go unchecked they might cause problems. Although I am...

Indeed it is. But unlike what passes for conspiracy theories these days, its an actual theory.

And the ‘modular’ features are just USBC adapters in a fancy case. I dont see the appeal.

Most of that is already easily swappable on any laptop granted it isn’t soldered to the board. Not to mention most of that is stuff you would never really need to swap out unless it broke. The keyboard and trackpad on most lenovo laptops ive worked on come out with two or three screws. Its not a big deal to work on.

Framework seems to be solving very few actual problems with mobile computers. The USBC adapter crap just seems like a gimmick to sell computerst to people who apparently need to change their ram and keypads all the time.

They’re not doing anything really interesting especially when it comes to modular GPUs inlaptosps as the only modern spec for that seems to be mxm and honestly I haven’t seen any current gen laptops with an mxm socket.
