Google, and its parent company Alphabet, have long come in criticism for developing products pushing social justice absolutism. In February, their AI platform Gemini was mocked for generating comically woke creations including a woman as pope, black Vikings, female NHL players and “diverse” versions of America’s Founding Fathers — not to mention black and Asian Nazi soldiers.

On a serious note, this is a bad look. Google claims it wasn’t a universal issue and that it’s been fixed, so we’ll probably never know the scope or why it only happened with the word “Jew”. Maybe it didn’t recognize religions and only demonyms.

That’s funny, I made a post like 15 minutes ago that talks about the surge in US asylum requests. There’s no easy solution, politically speaking. You’ll get blowback for almost anything, which is part of the reason the US hasn’t had immigration reform in so long.

I am not a historian nor a scholar on Africa but I thought the genocide was a short lived thing (edit: relative to other genocides, like it lasted a handful of years). Conflict is not necessarily the same as genocide.

Maybe I’m an idiot but I thought the South Sudan independence thing was part of a treaty. Unless that’s unrelated to the Darfur violence?

As a millennial 30-something, my ilk are only slightly left of the older generation. Gen Z, of which I have some (in-law) siblings, is different. These are kids who saw the Trump shit, even if they didn’t totally understand it all. But it left an impression. They are also way more open minded and waaaay less religious. That alone indicates a shift left. And the old adage of shifting right in your 30s/40s has not held for millennials. Assuming it doesn’t hold for Gen X (why would it?), the US is going in a promising direction.

One problem we do have is an activation of boomer voters in response to this stuff. But y’know what Gen X has that Boomers don’t? Time.
