Honestly, I like Breeze. I just change the colour and it works.

I am also quite a fan of Oxygen and Mint-X; but they look out-of-place on my newer systems, and my older systems have trouble running Plasma.

I’m not sure, but I’m guessing this is actually Arial or Nimbus Sans or something.

This! I just bought a water bottle, and it took the following measures just to get the residue from the label off:

  • Soaking in warm, soapy water
  • Scrubbing with an abrasive sponge
  • Soaking in vinegar
  • Scrubbing with Flash floor cleaner
  • Immersion in boiling water for 30 mins
  • Scrubbing with a Brillo pad
  • WD-40
  • 91% concentration laboratory-grade isopropanol

I would have tried that if I had any. Somehow, I have laboratory grade chemicals in my room, but not a drop of orange oil in the entire house!

It’s a distribution based on Arch, with four flavours.

ArcoLinuxL is the main one, with all the bells and whistles. ArcoLinuxS is the minimal one that comes with a desktop. ArcoLinuxD is the base one, which is comparable to a GUI version of the upstream Arch ISO.

It’s Derek Taylor’s (DistroTube’s) distro of choice.

EndeavourOS runs like shit on this particular laptop, and the installer could have used some work the last time I tried it.

I tried three times to install vanilla Arch on this laptop since I installed my new SSD, and it has failed in a different way each time. I’ve had it running well in the past, but this time it’s not playing ball, so I gave up and installed ArcoLinux.

Void was tricky. I didn’t like Runit, and the package selection wasn’t great.

As for siduction, it was just a touch too buggy (i.e. XScreensaver caused the laptop to freeze when I closed the lid) and too preconfigured to be able to resolve easily. It also played havoc with my school’s BYOD internet. I’ll probably go back to it at some point, though.

Of course, the main reason for this new install is that I just bought an SSD, and I’d rather start fresh than try to flash my old hard disk across.

I believe there are a few Linux phones with keyboards, but they’re not quite production-ready yet.

That’s nice. What web browser do you use?

hellfire103 OP ,

Yeah, I’ve been trying to figure out how to do that.

What’s to fix? I am using UserJS to make Librewolf look like that. This means that it can only use the Adwaita theme or the Maia theme.

[Question] Which shell prompt do you use and why?

Hi. I’ve been using powerlevel10k for a long time, but a few days ago, I decided I wanted to customize it a bit. I opened the .p10k.zsh file, and I was shocked. It’s really massive, with TONS of options. I’ve been digging through for a few hours already, and it’s absolutely amazing how much you can customize it without...

I use Zsh with the Oh My Zsh! framework, and I use a different theme depending on which subuserland I’m in, by customising ~/.zshrc. For example, I use the gentoo theme on Debian and its derivatives, agnoster on NixOS, darkblood on Arch, strug for Mageia, apple on my macOS device, aussiegeek on FreeBSD, and gallifrey on OpenBSD. Different themes helps me remember which package manager to use and which distro-specific commands will work.

I’ll send some screenshots in a bit, when I boot up my PC.

I like Zsh because of its tab completion and command history. I also quite like its plugins.

Before anyone asks, I have tried Fish before, and I prefer Zsh. I have tried configuring Bash before, and I prefer Zsh. I have played with Ksh and Tcsh on BSD, and I prefer Zsh. I used PowerShell a long time ago, and I prefer Zsh.

I’m not trying to be anonymous in this case. ProtonVPN and Windscribe don’t connect on my school’s WiFi, but Orbot punches a hole right through the firewall every time.

Yeah, I switched to Invidious a long time ago. If you want an app, I’d also recommend NewPipe (for Android), and either Yattee (for iOS) or Piped (as a PWA).

I don’t know why I haven’t already, but I think it’s time I switch all of my GAFAM accounts to DDG addresses.

It provides minor enhancements and bug fixes that make it useable as a daily driver. When I tried to daily drive Debian sid/bookworm a while back, it was crashy and really not fit for my purposes; but siduction has had only one bug (I have to turn networking off and on again when I log in), and that’s not really a big deal.

The streaming services have managed to completely forget their business model of being marginally more convenient than piracy.

As for me, though, I’ll start ripping my DVDs. I’ll sail the high seas when I have to, but I’d may as well get hard copies of my favourite films and TV shows.

hellfire103 ,
@hellfire103@sopuli.xyz avatar

And that’s where the piracy comes in. How do you think I’ve been watching The Owl House?

hellfire103 ,
@hellfire103@sopuli.xyz avatar

Almost. I tried t’ get it on DVD, but one o’ th’ sellers were bein’ based in China, and th’ other were bein’ a “large retailer” operatin’ out o’ a garage in London, and not th’ nice part. I had already been piratin’, but I thought I’d try t’ get it legitimately t’ support th’ people who worked on th’ show. Aarrr! Few movies and series be good enough t’ earn that, in me book.

Strangely, the Tor Browser bundle is available. I think it’s maybe something about multiple browsers that are virtually identical not being allowed? While Tor Browser is based on Firefox, it offers other important features that set it apart from other similar browsers.
