@actuallyautistic When I put on my profiles that I am , it is not to boast or get attention. It's a way of reminding myself that I'm different and telling others that's why I may seem strange to them. In no way does it mean I'm going to change anything about myself.

Eating has been a struggle for a few days. Everything is very textured. I'm also gassy 😅

It's not always the case though. Things that I usually have no or little issue with are just suddenly a lot more difficult to get down, even when I'm pretty hungry.

Do your sensitivities vary a lot over time like this? (Food/texture in particular)

@neversosimple @actuallyautistic They vary all the time, depending on the general state of the brain, I suppose. The calmer I am, the less sensitive I am.

@actuallyautistic I'd like to share the great new video on Pathological Demand Avoidance, or Pervasive Drive for Autonomy (PDA) by the very informative and insightful YT channel Autistamatic.

Feel free to discuss and share your experiences!

@neversosimple @actuallyautistic I have a big problem with that.

@actuallyautistic The anger in me wants to start a fight when I go back to work in one week for one week at my old agency. I just want to tell my current manager the unvarnished truth about how much she sucks as a manager. The fact that I am going to have to put on an extra thick mask is going to lead me to exhaustion next week.

I just want to tell her to go fuck herself but that wouldn't be wise. As much as it chaps my ass, I am going to go in, be civil, and polite. She's going to pretend like she cares that I am doing better mentally and I am going to pretend to care about doing some work for her.

I am too old to do this childish game of pretend. I am entirely too old for it. Why must we have politics in the workplace? Why is it asking too much to be left alone? I just want my task(s) assigned to me and then to be left the fuck alone to get them done.

@housepanther @actuallyautistic That's why I've been working alone for years...

@loops @housepanther @actuallyautistic Well I only talk about my life and I don't promote anything. Everyone does what they can. Furthermore, I have sought to work alone for almost my entire life and I did not know that I was autistic.

@pathfinder @actuallyautistic The same thought and feeling in every word. I agree with everything you just said. I am sixty and have been diagnosed for a little over a year. I have felt the same all my life and now everything is clearer but I still need to think a lot.

@pathfinder @actuallyautistic Like me, at 54 I met autistic hackers and began to identify myself. I previously had bipolar and gifted diagnoses. I had major depression. In 2018 my granddaughter who is autistic was born. That brought greater certainty. And the diagnosis of the three came almost together. The final surprise was this year with my current wife's diagnosis. Total revolution in the family.

@pathfinder @actuallyautistic Yes, my daughter and granddaughter have better opportunities now than I had. As for my story, I may decide to share it here. My current wife was my first love and life and prejudices from families they separated us. In 2008 I had a serious crisis and depression and she knew about it and looked for me. She did a lot of things along the way, not just hacking. When I thought my life was going to end like a hermit, she appeared and here we are together.

@pathfinder @actuallyautistic We both know it very well. Now we have a fairly calm life even with the normal problems of life and the world today. I thought the key was good humor and mutual kindness.
