Fix the hover drop downs (from library or store buttons at the top) to not appear over other apps.

I think this is a Linux only issue but when I’m not even tabbed into the steam launcher and accidentally move my mouse over one of those buttons at the top it shows the dropdown over my currently focused app :/

Heroic Games Launcher freezes every single time I try choose something from the file chooser

I am trying to figure out how to fix some issues I have been having with heroic games launcher, every-time I have to use the files chooser for example setting a wine prefix or selecting an executable the entire app freezes. I am not totally sure how to fix this.

Probably not a solution to your problem but I think Lutris can do everything Heroic can?

I haven't had a single game that needed editing ini files in ~ a year of gaming on linux. Most of the time it works straight from Steam as you'd expect on Windows. If not it's usually just checking protondb.com to find out what launch arguments and proton version a steam game needs/works best with.

If a game is not on steam it's usually easiest to use Lutris to handle the launcher setup as most other launchers like epic and uplay do not run natively on Linux so they need to be launched in the same container as windows games which Lutris fully takes care of.

Note that some games have kernel level anti cheat which will never work on linux. (eg valorant)

quick google search implies that FL Studio "works flawlessly" on linux through wine (which you also use for video games) 5 years ago already. https://jstaf.github.io/posts/flstudio-on-linux/

They not only removed typescript without implementing an alternative breaking many projects depending on that library but they did it without informing the open source community which means many people who invested their time in making PRs (there was 60+ open PRs) have to basically completely redo their work.

There aren’t computers strong enough to produce thousands or millions of planets that all have genuinely interesting features on them that are worth exploring for.

I don't think there is an infinite amount of "genuinely interesting features" so it's hard to imagine we'll ever get a game with this.

How is running a game with proton different in Steam and Lutris?

I have had numerous cases where a non-Steam game would run perfectly through Steam with Proton but the same game wouldn’t even launch through Lutris, even though I used the exact same Proton version. How are they different? Is there anything that Steam does in the background that Lutris won’t?...

amzd ,

I think it is to do with the files steam adds, not just proton.

To get a pirated copy of a game to work I created a compat folder for steam games, put the whole game in there, then ran it from lutris and it worked. (I can’t remember exactly how I created the compat folder but I can update this comment later when I’m at pc if you can’t figure it out)

When running from lutris without the folder structure of steam compat files it had many visual glitches.

When running from steam it tried to attach some steam processes which didn’t work for the pirated game.

60 fps on medium quality using top of the line cpu and gpu is a bit sad :(

I can’t tell if you are assuming immigrants apply for jobs they aren’t qualified for or implying that spaceX will not hire immigrants

Apple security updates could be banned by British government (9to5mac.com)

Everyone in the tech industry facepalms almost every time legislators try to pontificate on technology, but the British government appears to be trying to set a new record. After putting iMessage and FaceTime at risk, the government is now suggesting that it might ban some Apple security updates.

amzd ,

Ok so Apple would have to disclose the vulnerability to follow proposed EU rules then can't implement the fix in UK? That seems like a disaster waiting to happen

The rubber tires on your car are still not recyclable and will practically never break down. Also since electric cars are generally heavier you’re doing more damage to road infrastructure than necessary. Cars are not sustainable.

BAR might scratch your itch. It's also free and open source

Not sure what argument the title is supposed to make but there is hordes of mechanics/caretakers/cooks traveling across the world after these cycling tours so they are definitely not somehow excluded from scrutiny just because a few of them are riding a bike.

Idk the impact of how reflective this site is but I assume it's more than anything man made yet US is destroying it:

Instead of creating new solutions why not protect existing ones?

set daily time limits for the service

bruh that is not possible unless the social media requires you to be logged in? you can just browse without account

First comment. I have written this quick regex that seems to work on thumbnails on kbin.social:

img: ^kbin.social/media/cache/resolve/entry_thumb/(.+)$
to: media.kbin.social/$1

for import:

{"kbin.social":{"img":"^kbin\.social/media/cache/resolve/entry_thumb/(.+)$","to":"media.kbin.social/$1"}}

amzd ,

Ok an update already broke it; kbin added /media path to the media subdomain for some reason so update the to field with:

media.kbin.social/media/$1
