This is accurate

(also the innocence/normality of this meme is amusingly, um, twisted, if you know the movie this is from)

My is brief/won't spoil, to spread good, great, & spectacular far & wide.

The family trauma that pervades THE DAY OF THE DOOR is horrifying enough, but coupled with the intensely creepy events that occur, this story encapsulates "HORROR" in a masterful, terrifying way. Laurel Hightower has written a beautifully dark story about the Things that haunt our hearts. (Ghoulish Books)

Thank you so much! Just bought it. Her ‘Crossroads’ was so frightening, poetic and sad. I loved it. 🖤

We watched THE INNOCENTS (2021) last night and while I thought it was a solid horror film, I am somewhat bewildered at the 97% on RT. I'd give it a 90% - it was a unique premise, certainly full of horror, and the kids were great in it. But it wasn't a near masterpiece.

(Note that the horror contains some truly appalling animal death, so don't watch it if that's going to traumatize you.)

I loved it. It doesn't romanticise childhood, but soberly shows the willingness and above all the ability of children to be creatively cruel and deceitful. Uncomfortable and frightening. An unforgettable film for me.

I'm not at all surprised that kids can be cruel, but it's rare that it's portrayed in such a straightforward way. Also, there were those children who stood up to exactly this evil that is inherent in all children. I thought this concept was really well and disturbingly realised. The kids are our future. And we may have no idea how much they are already deciding all our fates.

💙📚 MEWING by Chloe Spencer is a devilish, deliciously demented tale about self image, fame, & the lengths a person may be compelled to pursue for Love & Validation. Instantly engaging & full of a wry, sardonic horror, it's a biting story that will resonate, especially with women. (Shortwave Publishing)

Thank you @ElizabethLeeCo for showing me that this is a thing that exists and is coming soon...

It still makes me mad/sad that Julian Sands is gone, and that he wasn't a bigger star than he was, but at least we get this. Even if the trailer just showed us every scene he will be in, I will absolutely be watching this (slightly ridiculously titled) film. And it may even be good!! ⬇️⬇️⬇️

I really want to do this in my backyard but I'd have to move them every time our very nice lawn man comes to mow and I don't know what would be weirder to him: leaving them on the lawn or moving them all to gaze at him from the patio while he mows 😂

Stole this image from someone who stole this image, and I'm stealing the question, too:

WHAT FILM MADE YOU GO 'WTF DID I JUST WATCH'?

Off the top of my head:

Mother! definitely. Also Society, The Outwaters, Final Prayer (aka The Borderlands), Dead Alive (aka Brain Dead), Skinamarink, The Human Centipede, Infinity Pool, Antichrist, Hausu, Secretary. And I love them all.

What about you?

The last few times I went WTF was when I saw Skinamarink, The Outwaters and Martyrs. Not with enthusiasm but with boredom, disgust and anger. 😅

Posed this question over at the Sky place but I'll do it here, too, because I'm curious & want replies!

So, hopefully, since you're [ people] we're all familiar w Leland Gaunt, the Needful Things villain that can find something to tempt most people... I'm pondering, cuz I'm hard pressed to think of something I'd be vulnerable/susceptible to. Probably a 1st edition of a rare book. Or perfect health.

If anything goes, what about you?

📽️ What's a horror movie that you feel is so: striking, unique, disturbing, profound, &/or beautiful that it transcends to the level of ART?
(Not for just a scene, or moments, or even a performance, but for the ENTIRE film.)

Four that immediately occurred to me:

The Shining
The Devils
The Wolf House
There Will Be Blood

I can think of more but I'm curious what YOU all think...

I have to go eat & do stuff but I'll be back on later to see what you all said!
