TBH, unless you got extraordinarily lucky (or had the right connections to get somebody to push your NFTs) you probably would have wound up losing money. “Gas” fees on the Etherium blockchain can get really high, and I found this article that has some really good numbers on median prices for NFT sales. For the time period their data came from (a random week during the NFT gold rush) about %30 of artists sold for prices low enough that they were likely to barely break even or possibly lose money on fees. Virtually no artists made any appreciable money on NFTs even during the biggest hype periods.

Whether it was fascist or not matter because the word has lost its meaning. Could be something fairly innocuous really.

CNN sources a Media Matters report which goes into detail as to the content of the twitter account. Tl;dr, it’s an explicitly neo-nazi account which regularly posted memes and content praising Hitler and the Nazi party and pushing neo-nazi talking points.

I’m not sure what it accomplishes playing semantic games about whether something fits the technical definition of fascism (Nazi Germany absolutely does, btw) when the commonly understood definition of far-right, ultra-nationalist, authoritarianism is abundantly clear.

I don’t think anyone is proposing that we dictate others’ opinions. But companies, advertisers, and platforms are under no obligation to be associated with the expression of those opinions, and I have no issue stating that Nazis, Fascists, and their ideological descendants are very unwelcome on Beehaw.

Behold, the Media Matters report that was attributed as the source in the CNN article.

I understand wanting to know what evidence someone has for an argument, but when the source is attributed in the posted article then demands for proof come across as sealioning which is very much discouraged on Beehaw.

For those that don’t feel like reading that Media Matters report, the account in question was openly and explicitly neo-nazi, and Media Matters has screenshots of a number of posts with memes praising Hitler, Holocaust denial, and “great replacement” memes. There’s also a meme that just says “It’s okay to be a national socialist” which seems about as pro-Nazi as something could possibly get.

I understand frustration with potential spoilers, but to be fair this scene was in a livestreamed demo that Larian hosted that went viral before the game even launched. It’s not been kept particularly secret and I don’t think it’s probably a major plot point.

I’m not sure I can fully agree with this, but he does seem like somebody who is at his best when he has people who can rein in his excesses a bit. He reminds me of George Lucas in that way. He badly needs a good editor.

Yeah I watched it on Haelian’s stream and he was so anxious in the third phase even though he knew how it was gonna turn out. That fight was absolutely wild.

Seriously though, camping a weapon drop or a busy corner and spawn camping are different beasts. Spawn camping sucks because there’s not really much if any counter play, it’s more on the devs to make spawning less predictable and exploitable. Other types of camping can be played around by being aware of the map.

Hey @haxe11 and @Prandom_returns, I think we may have reached a point in this discussion where we are talking past one another. Please keep in mind the core ethos of Beehaw: Be(e) nice. We can argue from different points of view, but please remember the human on the other side of the screen. Avoid personal attacks and insults, de-escalate when things get heated, and if a discussion devolves then it may be time to just disengage. I think we have probably reached that point, here.

I’m sorry if it’s frustrating to you to have megathreads like this. I’m not enthused about the extra effort in redirecting posts to the Megathread, either, but I’m not aware of a better way to handle topics that are flooding a community other than gathering them up in a thread like this. It annoys users (and mods) when dozens of articles about the same topic are dominating a community, so we’d like to do something to alleviate that when possible. I’ve seen similar concepts used in a number of different places (old-school forums, reddit alternatives like Tildes) because, as far as I’ve seen, there’s not a better alternative for wrangling topics that might otherwise clutter the feed.

If you have any ideas about better ways to handle this type of thing in the future, I’d love to hear them (and I genuinely mean that - I think we’re open to suggestions if a better way exists).

Lol, thanks. We’ll most likely leave posts that were submitted before this thread since most of them have already generated discussion and we’d hate to cut that off. It would be great if there was some way to bundle up existing posts under a single post without removing them, but I’ve yet to see a site with a feature like that.

Hey, I think you can get your point across without using “autistic” as an adjective that way. I’m sure you didn’t mean any harm by it, but we have a lot of neurodivergent users and I’m sure you don’t want anybody taking your comment to be insulting or degrading to them. Please try to keep Beehaw a nice place for everybody.

There seem to be a lot of problems surfacing with federation in general. Some actions seem to be taking a very long time to federate - if they ever do.
