Hey. Feeling hopeless again and coping with humor as usual. I think we should establish a suicide promotion hotline. Hear me out.

Personally, I knew I should have done it at age ten. I just thought I was too young to make that decision. I needed some support and encouragement like our hotline could provide.

@Uair @actuallyautistic I keep thinking of the lovely air conditioned suicide assist centres in Soylent Green. One of the Police Book’s (Ernest Borgnine) last words as he slipped away while watching videos of old green Earth was, it really was a wonderful world, wasn’t it?

Some Silicon Valley douchebag actually started making Soylent. I always thought it was in very poor taste. But maybe you’re right, maybe it was funny as hell.

Requirements to put in a job description to discourage or filter out autistic people:

  • Comfortable with ambiguity
  • Strong people skills
  • Good culture fit
  • Multitasking
  • A fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Bachelor's degree or better

I see these things and think you don't want my >30 years of programming and machine learning experience, or my problem-solving skills and comprehensive knowledge that had people mistaking me for one of the team's PhDs, or my solutions that have proven patent-worthy. Your loss.

These I’ve long translated as “this job has a high social stress load and a domineering boss, bad work environment with coworkers and/or customers”.

Provoked by a dollop of hopeful shame, there are times I still wonder if I’m “on the spectrum”. Then something about human society wallops me right into “Yes. Yes, I really am so bloody autistic.” No matter how consummately I try to emulate, anticipate, script, conscript, or model it… neurotypical human social brouhaha is a game I can never ever really play at, never mind win.

I’m too old to really care to try anymore. So… cheers to us. 🥂
