@Weirding_Is_Real @blackvoices @blackmastodon You’re welcome! NYT does a pretty good job with its audio versions of its longer articles— a godsend for my elderly mother, whose eyesight makes it harder to read the tiny print of longer pieces.

Being of the same generation and ethnic background as Stephanie, I could so relate to her feelings about her dad. Mine, unfortunately, died young. But her dad’s philosophy was just like my mom’s and my grand-parents’: we’ve been through the worst of oppression, but never gave up. Don’t you give up either, as the next generation. @blackmastodon

I'm a designer (15-yr, 2nd career) who used to work in finance (for 20 yrs), but who has always been writing independently. I'm gradually easing out of my design practice so that I can focus on my non-fiction (& poetry writing. My current non-fiction manuscript has been on pause due to my other time commitments. I am now thrilled that soon I'll have more time to devote to working on it and to writing generally. I am inspired by the writers I've connected with here on Mastodon. @writers

Whenever I get discouraged, I remember this woman and her struggles, courage and triumphs as not only a rescuer of slaves trapped in the South but also as a Union spy: Harriet Tubman. I look at this small woman and it’s hard to believe that she a huge human being. @blackmastodon @BlackMastodon
