RovingFox , to linux in Cross platform terminal emulator?
@RovingFox@infosec.pub avatar

No personal experience but if I were to try I would start with Syncthing and probably synchronize config files and aliases.

RovingFox , to asklemmy in What's your opinion on getting video game achievements with the help of a guide?
@RovingFox@infosec.pub avatar

For me it is a balance. Getting the achievement the correct way feels nice, but I am also aware that if the achievement is too dificult to get I might lose interest in the game. Add to this the fact that achievements are in fact made by human beings that are flawed by nature and could make them unfair, I refuse to compensate for bad design with my own time and attention.

RovingFox , to asklemmy in Which LLMs is everyone using for r/writingprompts?
@RovingFox@infosec.pub avatar

Human labor is generally more expensive. Ai is generally cheaper. My funds are limited. Guess which one I will pick.

I am not saying one is better then the other. Both have advantages.

Is your phone hand assembled? Are your cloths hand made? The planks from your bed are cut into shape by a human? Machine labor is generally cheaper and we all have to cut costs somewhere.

RovingFox , to asklemmy in What purpose would this be used for?

I want to upvote but I cant.

RovingFox , (edited ) to asklemmy in How does healthcare work in your country?
@RovingFox@infosec.pub avatar

Romania you pay taxes from your salary or if you are a student then you are automatically covered. To access specialists you need a piece of paper from your designated doctor that confirms from him/her that you need a specialist.

The reality tho is that the state of the medical system is bad. Understaffed and equipment older then 40+ years.

RovingFox , to asklemmy in Bypassing "wifi pausing"
@RovingFox@infosec.pub avatar

I think you are missing my point. The “pretending” device connects to router, while the “original” device connects to the pretending device. The 2 interfaces that share the same MAC don’t connect to the same network.

The user also conncets to the pretending device. to hide their access to the router.

What I would personally do is buy a device that can connected to wifi and hotspot at the same time. This can be a raspberry pi or a wifi router range extender.

I would set the name and MAC address to match a device that is constantly connected, a smart TV or Alexa maybe.

Then I would use this device connect to the internet.

Everything works as usual and for those who monitor the network via Router settings, nothing looks different.

Have fun pulling risky moves and maybe also learn something out of it.

Lmao, typing from phone keyboard and found the wrong symbol. Didn’t even know this existed.

I just try to follow my passion, which in 70℅ is computers. I “waste” plenty of time with activities that are not productive, but when the obsession hits, I’ll spend weeks in coding or leaning a new skill. Personal development involves time you just fool around with your hobby.

RovingFox , to asklemmy in Why does everyone make such a fuss about privacy?
@RovingFox@infosec.pub avatar

Selling bad products to customers is about finding just the right amount of inconvenience for the customer. You never know what information about you can be used by an AI model to pinpoint your threshold. I would like not to be used in a borderline consumer herding.

RovingFox , to asklemmy in A person comes up to you and says, "I can reverse time for just $1 per day." Do you take their offer? How far back do you go?
@RovingFox@infosec.pub avatar

And risk not spending enough time in other places that lead my life in my current state. People in my past (deceased or not) are very important but so are the ones in my present. I can’t sacrifice one for the other.

what other reasons are for going back in time? Relationship? That doesn’t depend on one critical point. Same with personal development.

RovingFox , to asklemmy in Those of you that went back to your old job/company, why?
@RovingFox@infosec.pub avatar

Hated the new one. I am glad the old one was kind enough to take me back, even if we all knew it was temporary.

RovingFox , to android in With all the ad shenanigans going on with Google, would you still buy a Pixel phone?
@RovingFox@infosec.pub avatar

If enough people join in the same behaviour, Google will notice all the data gathering is losing value, and if the value is low enough the effort to gather it should be directed to something else. As a result new data is not gathered.
