How do you keep track of all apps you install and their configurations?

Earlier this year, I built a new PC and it’s running Ubuntu. I’ve been installing various apps and configuring them since then. Now, I realize I don’t have any way of knowing what I would want to reinstall, if I (for instance) lost this drive somehow....

Also works as a way to remove programs you are not really using anymore but had installed before. And although more annoying but I guess resetting configuration files to default settings every now and then is not too bad either.

Has anyone used or contributed to OpenStreetMap?

I’ve tried using it over the years but I never liked it because there was no information. So last night I looked at my local city and there is almost no information at all. I spent a few hours last night adding buildings and restaurants and removing incorrect items. It was actually kind of fun and therapeutic and I plan to do...

I have added some nearby forest paths to OSM and added some bicycle paths alongside roads which were already mapped, using OSM mostly for outside of road network since other maps do not show forest paths and the like at all while OSM has decent coverage

Wiki has descriptions for the surface types, wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:surface gravel seems to be general term that includes compacted gravel, I had to look up difference between dirt, ground and unpaved without text descriptions from the wiki that would have been impossible.

Definitely my choice for running on server, not so much for desktop but for server Debian has fantastic stability and good enough support by 3rd parties
