I actually try my best to avoid being part of that ecosystem, partially due to the incompatibilities and also partially due to the hostility that Apple users tend to have in that system torwards outsiders.

I’m the same way with my credentials lol

@Pika@sh.itjust.works avatar

I feel the same way to be honest, with the current question I did it all the way through and I was at odds end of what I could ask it aside from just straight out asking if it’s a specific type, third question in was the exact one that you spoilered out and yet I wasn’t even able to get a general ballpark of what it was in the next 17 questions.

Pika , to steam in Steam has a moderation issue
@Pika@sh.itjust.works avatar

that’s saying that they just don’t restrict community access, which steam defo has the capability of doing. I’ve seen some profiles marked removed and the acct exists just can’t access community services

Pika , to asklemmy in Has Windows startup repair or a troubleshooter ever fixed your issue even once?
@Pika@sh.itjust.works avatar

Network troubleshooter has on more than one occasion fixed my networking issues when somehow it got an invalid IP configuration, it’s usually my last step that I do before system restart, that being said the only decent thing starter prepare has done for me is giving me a way to easily get into the recovery menu When It ultimately fail

Pika , to piracy in OpenSubtitles.org is shutting down it's previous API. Now only authenticated access allowed.
@Pika@sh.itjust.works avatar

man, they’ve change so much since 2017, where they were giving VIP membership out for free as a Christmas gift. Now they’re making it so can’t access the API for free anymore as a Christmas gift to themselves lmao

Pika , to asklemmy in Where else on the web does everyone hang out?
@Pika@sh.itjust.works avatar

If it counts, I know a lot of people hang out on VR chat. It’s a very common misnomer that you need a VR to run the platform, most of my friends don’t even bother being in VR they just use it in desktop mode. I expect you probably meant more text-based, but I wanted to throw that on the board as well

Pika , to news in Now that cars are like smartphones, we don’t really own them
@Pika@sh.itjust.works avatar

Capitalism always takes over, if there is potential to sell someone will step in. Used to have small car shops and stores all around, big companies came in and they all closed shop, it’ll go back to that most likely, although it’s more likely other competitors will take advantage of the situation and just move in instead. Especially if the situation expands to further states.

Pika , to news in Now that cars are like smartphones, we don’t really own them
@Pika@sh.itjust.works avatar

I mean, I think the only proper response to this is just a boycott or a straight ban on companies that do that in the states. It would let smaller companies slide in, or other competitors take over. Currently it’s a contest between the two companies and their customers, just don’t buy if they don’t have the features, companies will either revert the decision or pull out of the regions.

Pika , to technology in Robot mistakes man for box of peppers, kills him — Malfunctioning sensor system blamed for technician’s death at Korean food plant
@Pika@sh.itjust.works avatar

it had a sensor for it, it malfunctioned, now why it wasn’t turned off while the tech was in there is another story. If they were testing it, they should have been a safe distance away or had it mostly powered off. This is just unsafe work environment.

I am likely going with the pixel, just because of the free-er ecosystem on it, plus the update window they committed to last time around is super nice
