is there an email Fediverse thingy?

I’ve been looking into the Fediverse and it seems like something I want to get more accustomed to. But iw as wondering if there was an email one based on it? I’ve got like Gmail and outlooks. But I also have a rarely used protonmail. So, I was wondering, is Proton good enough. Or is there a Fediverse alternative?

You cannot compare these things with another. Email is much different to lemmy/mastodon. It’s like they’re two different languages; both do have a syntax or grammar, though they live in different universes so to speak.

Offtopic: has anyone seen a ELI5 community in the lemmyverse so far? I’d like to join there!
