Okalaydokalay , to piracy in Pirate Netflix

You’re looking for something like Plex, Jellyfin, or Emby.

You’ll hear these thrown around a lot. Plex is the most popular with Jellyfin coming up over the years.

This is if you want to host your own media on a “server” at home.

If you want someone else’s media, you can still use these, like someone else sharing their media library with you or you can go the route of something like Kodi that hosts content from elsewhere. The options are almost limitless with this last one.

Okalaydokalay , to games in Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare Coming to Switch and PS4

I would love an addition of first person like they did with GTA V and RDR2. A new way to experience RDR1 would be amazing and first person is my go to in the other games because of the immersion.

Okalaydokalay , to technology in ASUS is apparently killing the ability to root present and future Zenfone, Updated

That’s sad to hear. I’m an iPhone guy but I bought a Zenfone a few years ago when I wanted a cheap VR headset. It scratched the itch at the time and it was the best bang for my buck with the best features and yet still being unlocked from a carrier.

But with all that is going on at ASUS, I’m surprised they would make an unpopular move like this. Their motherboards are frying CPUs and their supposed Steam Deck killer didn’t do much of anything to kill competition. Wtf is going on at ASUS HQ?!

She has such a loving look in her eyes.

Okalaydokalay , to technology in FCC slaps $300M fine on “largest illegal robocall operation” it’s ever seen

On my iPhone, I have it set to silence all unknown calls. I still get a notification a call was silenced and they can leave a voicemail if they want to.

It really sucks like earlier this week when I was expecting a call from a lawyer and missed it because I didn’t have their number already in my contacts. Or when job hunting or whatever.

But it’s been really nice not to get dumbass calls that are strictly spam.

Okalaydokalay , to gaming in You can play Starfield on PC and Xbox even if you only buy it once

Hell no! I do not ever preorder anything.

Okalaydokalay , to technology in Google warns again it will start deleting inactive accounts in December

I just got the notice on my recovery email account. Kind of pissed they are excluding accounts attached to YouTube. I know why they are excluding and I know it benefits most people because of all those classics on YouTube, but I have one that Google has artificially locked me out of because even though I know the password and have access to the recovery email, that’s not enough without the stupid phone number I no longer have 🙃

Wish I could delete it since YouTube won’t let me in and has no way of contacting them.

Okalaydokalay , to gaming in You can play Starfield on PC and Xbox even if you only buy it once

This is me all day, every day.

I’m worried about preordering it and still going in with low expectations. I can’t believe everything Todd has been saying these last few years.

That would be awful.

Excuse me while I go play my Virtual Boy.

Okalaydokalay , to technology in Man open-sources the self-repairable AirPods Pro case that Apple won’t make

That’s a pretty awesome site. Would be nice to still have a DIY method, but this seems to work too. Though most of their selection seems to be out of stock. Wonder if that’s an all the time thing or if I just happened to come across this at a bad time.

Okalaydokalay , to linux in Zorin OS 16.3 Is Released (with upgrade tool)

Good to hear about the Nvidia driver support. I tried Zorin a few weeks ago and while the USB worked with dual monitors, the actual installed OS did not and I couldn’t make it work no matter what I did.

I was prepared to make it my daily driver over Windows.

Okalaydokalay , to technology in Man open-sources the self-repairable AirPods Pro case that Apple won’t make

It’s honestly great, but the last two AirPods I have had had the earbuds’ battery go out before the case’s battery did. I tried fixing the earbuds’ battery at home and it was a complete mess of glue and ribbon cable hanging out. I wish someone had a viable solution for those. I loved my AirPods but the battery dying as quick as it did was enough for me to never buy more.

Okalaydokalay , to cat in Despite having two bullets in her, one eye and a slightly wonky rear leg, she will steal your pizza without a hitch

She would always get my pizza. She’s so beautiful and seems so sweet. I want to pet her so badly.

I can’t stand people who hurt defenseless animals.

Okalaydokalay , to technology in Built-in software ‘death dates’ are sending thousands of schools’ Chromebooks to the recycling bin

It grants the IT department authority over the devices. Restricting unauthorized changes like adding new accounts, adding new software, removing existing software, allows for tracking of the devices and sometimes remote wiping in case the device is stolen or lost and valuable data is on the device, among other things.

Less to do with cheating and more to do with control over the device since it’s the school’s property. Preventing cheating is an afterthought of MDM (mobile device management).
