I love to read, sing, listen to music, collect and try out #recipes, and get together with small groups of good friends. I enjoy uplifting, civil, conversations. I am a part-time #Braille instructor for a small local organization.

I've often considered buying a kindle or another eReader but yet I have so many questions as a screenreader user. How well does the text to speech software on it work? does it only work within books, or does it work on the rest of the device too? like downloading books, changing settings, that kind of thing? I hear it only works with Bluetooth as the kindle devices don't have any speakers. Is there an easy way for me to turn the softtware on and off as needed, or would i need someone who can see to do all that for me? SO many questions! Would be good to talk to someone who owns a kindle. @bookstodon

MichiganPal ,

@lunarwolf_howls @bookstodon @the_bookwolf I have a Fire tablet. I use it for listening to music and playing dice and trivia games mainly. It works okay for my needs. People with more tech knowledge can answerr these questions better.

@actuallyautistic

what are some of the most common, or most bothersome, false assumptions people make about you?

Don't limit yourself to neurodiversity or any other topic.

MichiganPal ,

@hosford42 @eo @actuallyautistic @ashleyspencer I can relate to not talking in large groups of people. I also tend to be silent groups of any size where I don’t know anyone or are sitting near anyone I know.

Tell me a good book you’ve read this year that you’d recommend.

I’ll start: Crow Mary by Kathleen Grissom

@bookstodon @Likewise @patl One of my favorite books of this year so far is "Anatomy of a Song". It describes the origins and recording of almost 50 years of pop, rock, and soul songs.

Love to see this clip on Ann Lowe, the Black woman who dressed American royalty--well before the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s.

@romancelandia's very one Piper Huguley wrote a novelized biography of this remarkable Black American woman: By Her Own Design, which you should totaly read:

MichiganPal ,

@romancelandia @herhandsmyhands I have an audio copy of "By Her Own Design" downloaded. I saw so many posts on that other platform that I downloaded it as soon as it appeared on my library service's download site.
