@silo_bear @juergen_hubert @germany @folklore 'layman Christianity' regularly gets this wrong (eh, am not even one myself, funnily ^^). In Job for example, the devil is adresses as 'Satanael', the suffix declaring Him as an angelic being, fulfilling G-ds will.
About the fall etc, this has been mostly a political rant against the late Assyrian King who waged war and - to the luck of Israel - died unexpectedly (the star that has fallen), book Isaiah.
Stuff went really shitway when translations

@juergen_hubert @germany @folklore slaying a boar meant conquering & gaining dominion for the ruler (mind Gunther's amulet in the Nibelungenlied)... Whilst the sight and maybe communication with the stag is appreciation from the 'royalty' and well, kingslaying is a trope usually not encouraged in folk tales for obvious reason ^^

@luigirenna @greenspindle @juergen_hubert @germany @folklore hailing from Italy? The alpine region, including the nowadays Italian parts, knows a distinct spirit / deity with 'perchta' who is a close relative to Holle/Hel.
According to some highly intriguing theories maybe even the older and original form (Hel is a rather late addition to the Norse pantheon anyway).
