It’s not even that weird a symbol for people to come up with independently. It’s not as simple as a triangle, but it’s still really simple. It’s basically a level two shape after you use up all the basic polygons.

Only because your eyes are biased by reality!

There seems to be a broad range of opinions in this thread regarding whether or not people should go to Egypt if giants were involved at some point:

I really hope these aren’t the shrooms my brother is using because he went from microdosing to taking massive doses (without anyone making sure he’s okay). Knowing him, I doubt he’s buying something he has to get illegally.

Unfortunately, I’m still the little brother who was 5 or 6 when he went off to college (I was planned, really), so he never listens to me about anything.

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

Facebook drugs. That’s where they’re selling a lot of these.

Ketamine too.

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

I am almost certain he is just ordering something he saw in an ad. He is super paranoid and anxious.

But honestly, I’m tired of hearing about how the huge doses of mushrooms he’s taking have allowed him to separate himself from his own identity and become humanity as a whole. Honestly, after the first massive dose he took when he said he told his wife to watch him and then said she fell asleep but he was fine, so it didn’t matter, I stopped paying too much attention. There’s no point worrying about it if he won’t listen to me anyway. He’s an adult, he’s almost 50. It’s his life. He has never really wanted me to contribute much to it anyway beyond just generally keeping in touch.

Not good enough for Republicans. John Deere has to abandon any and all programs to have a diverse workforce.

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

And you’re evidence that those people were “grifters” is what?

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

Ah, I see. Anectode, the plural of data.

Clearly because the specific people who your work made you sit through being pointless means all DEI everywhere is a scam.

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

Sorry, that’s not how the burden of proof works. You made the claim that DEI is a scam. It’s not my job to prove that’s true.

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

Correct. I cannot prove that your claim is incorrect. Similarly, you cannot prove that I don’t put an invisible pink unicorn on your ceiling unless you make the specific claim that I did not do that.

Because it’s not your job to prove someone else is wrong. It’s your job to prove that you’re right.

I made no claim. You did.

I’m not curious enough to ask them, but I am mildly curious what they think the solution should be to get a diverse workforce. I’m guessing it’s “don’t have one.”

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

You have yet to provide any sort of non-anecdotal evidence that they are grifters.

Declaring things to be true doesn’t make them true.

Me? I don’t work at all. And this is one of the less-racist towns in Indiana because we have a somewhat larger black and Latino population than many others, but it’s still Indiana, so yeah, it’s a racist town.

Less racist than when they lynched an innocent man back in 1900 though.

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

Two anecdotes is still not data.

I can show you plenty of other executives that have nothing to do with DEI who have been guilty of fraud.

FlyingSquid OP ,

I’m pretty sure they meant the Akkadians.

Not any less stupid, but these sorts have a real hard-on for ancient Middle Eastern cultures.

They didn’t even have to come to a populated planet if they wanted to get gold out of the solar system. And unlike us humans in the article, they presumably don’t have to worry about devaluation.

I agree completely. We’ve achieved amazing things with our limited primate brains which evolved to be hunter-gatherers, but that’s not enough for these people.

“It was lawful at the time”.

Curious if they would apply this excuse to the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Games Magazine readers back in the 80s and 90s regularly sent mail to the magazine with the address in the form of a puzzle and postal workers would solve them and send them into the magazine. It was pretty cool.

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

You mean Amish. They’re both Anabaptists, but Mennonites are generally fine with technology, they just dress weird.

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

Huh. That’s basically how you can tell the difference around here.

I can’t possibly argue with such a well-reasoned rebuttal. My hat is off to you, sir, madam or other.

I don’t mean to suggest it’s impossible. Clearly it is possible to artificially induce parthenogenesis in mammals because it has been done, although the offspring have not been healthy so far.

FlyingSquid ,

It could still be a gangster execution. It’s not like gang members have a code against robbing people.

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

How is this a dichotomy? How does private ownership and profit exist in a communist state? That’s pretty much the definition of capitalism.

I understand wanting Cuba to be a communist country, but it’s no more communist than China.

You tell me where Marx says private ownership and enriching corporate profits are features of communism.

And every person from one specific part in the world will refuse to integrate if they emigrate to France?

FlyingSquid ,

It’s certainly a far more entertaining watch than Atlas Shrugged is to read. It’s just awful. I couldn’t even get all the way through it, I ended up reading a summary.

But two things in it really made me laugh-

  1. That railroads would work better if the government had no involvement (good luck laying track without eminent domain).
  2. The solution to the world’s problems involves violating the laws of physics.

And people take it seriously.

FlyingSquid OP ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

Yes, that’s why I post these hilarious things from crazy people. You’ve figured it out.

Nowhere does that even suggest that Mexicans have to return to Mexico within 24 hours if they drive here from Mexico. That’s just not a law. I have no idea why you think Mexicans can’t legally drive from Tijuana to New York City, but they can, despite that taking over 40 hours.

They can even drive to Toronto. That would take even longer. And then they can go back through Canada and through the U.S. and back to Mexico and they can stay in the U.S. as long as their travel visa allows.

I have no idea why you think they can only get 12 hours from Mexico by car before they have to turn back.
