Plant eater, animal lover, reader, socially disassociated currently, photographer, e-bike (now) rider.
I've stopped boosting images that lack alt text. Even ones that I love!
I live in Nova Scotia, with my husband, border collie and three Cornish Rex cats. I seem to spend 90% of my waking time in the kitchen, cooking and the rest out walking my dog.
I do not post or comment on anything political.
I write stories and take pictures. They are on my blog mostly.

Guess what makes a good book?

Good writing & a story you’re interested in. A novel idea, I know, but in this day & age we are all but told who & what we should be reading. Don’t listen, read what & who you enjoy.

Below are a stack of books by Richard Russo, who I think is an incredible writer. You may totally disagree & that’s 100% alright with me.

Only the first 2 of those in your stack are available in audio format in our library. I'll have a listen after Demon Copperhead.

Same Page librairies only lend their audio books for 2 weeks, which is a bit tight for some longer ones.
I squeaked through "The Vanishing Half" by Brit Bennett with about 2 minutes to spare before it was to expire, by listening at 1.25x speed.
I did enjoy it. Interesting storyline, I understand it's a favourite of Barack Obama.

It's not so bad if it's a book you can renew, but usually with mine, I've been waiting for weeks, and then it goes back to the next in line as there's a long Waiting list.

just trialling a new prescription of monthly multi focals after working with a contact lens specialist following a recent eye test. (Previously, I used dailies, from an older prescription.) So far, so good, though, oddly, better in the afternoon and evening. It was so good to find someone who specializes in contacts and is willing to work through issues with older eyes.

I’m probably going to be offline and not online too much.
Just sick with the random virus, the lateral flow test says I have been negative for Covid twice. So not trying to tax my energy. Going into powersave mode.
Just FYI if I don’t respond or signal as normal as I do.
I hope that makes sense.
Have a great week

In case anyone is wondering if there is any engagement on here— this is the list of every book recommended after I asked if you’d share one book you enjoyed this year. You can scroll underneath the original post to see these, but I think seeing them all together shows the true awesomeness of the people on here.

Thanks for being pretty darn great ❤️

Hi😊 I just moved here from another server, so I thought I’d introduce myself: My name is Lisa.
My 1st love is books, a close 2nd is drawing/painting. I walk a lot & place a high value on daily exercise. I work in the field of ophthalmology, but have a background in teaching & aviation. I am married, w/ 2 teenaged boys. Originally I’m from SoCal, but have lived in TN for many yrs & love it. I am definitely a country mouse (vs. city mouse). The older I get, the more I enjoy cold weather, which has led to an obsession w/ sweaters & sweatshirts. There is also a corkscrew in my purse for red wine emergencies. @bookstodon

4 of us met last night for dinner, drinks, & discussion about Demon Copperhead. 3/4 loved it, one thought it too depressing to finish. I thought it was incredible & easily gave it 5 stars.

Next up for book club: Magpie Murders by Anthony Horowitz.

I have, I think, read at least 3. This one, Moonflower Murders and Stormbreaker. Can't recall them now. 2022 is so long ago in book years. Lol
