#FantasyIndies April 25. What is the most difficult thing your characters have gone through?
I genuinely can’t answer this without giving away too much. Haha! Previously, though, the toughest thing any of the characters had gone through was grief and the depression that comes with that. ~ Hayley-Jenifer, author of Kingdom of the Moon
I have to say that Scáth is my favourite child. He says things without thinking, he is always hungry, he doesn’t reeeeally like people, and he rarely finds himself interested in what’s going on around him unless it directly affects him. And yet, he’s got a soft spot for one character in particular. I wonder why… ~ Hayley-Jenifer, author of Kingdom of the Moon
#FantasyIndies April 18. What books do you like to reread?
I re-read Cecelia Ahern’s novels often because I love how she writes magical realism. She’s been my favourite since I first read ‘If You Could See Me Now’ when I was fourteen! I also re-read (and re-watch!) ‘The Princess Bride’ quite often because it never fails to make me laugh. ~ Hayley-Jenifer, author of Kingdom of the Moon
My MC’s favourite season is autumn (she’s very practical and castles are tough to heat and tough to cool in the winter/summer, and the birds always try to nest in the eaves in the spring!). Autumn is no trouble for the staff—haha! ~ Hayley-Jenifer, author of Kingdom of the Moon
We’ve got humans and Fae (so far!) in 'Kingdom of the Moon'. The Moon and the forest also feature, but that’s all I can say on that ;) ~ Hayley-Jenifer, author of Kingdom of the Moon
My MC likes nature but only when she's walking through it with her best friend. When it's quiet and warm, she does like the gardens but she doesn't venture out into the forest. Well, except this one time but I can't tell you about that... ~ Hayley-Jenifer, author of Kingdom of the Moon
The first page of my "Fantasy/Attempted Comedy" story, The Last Philosopher.
I've been rewriting it again, but this first page still has some issues.
The question is would you keep reading? ☺️
Ohohohohoh I can't tell you what seasons without giving you a little spoiler: all the seasons are present in 'Kingdom', but our story is only set over a short few days... Hmm. Weird. Hehe. ~ Hayley-Jenifer, author of Kingdom of the Moon
My MC misses her parents, for sure. It's a big castle that can be very quiet when her twin isn't feeling very social. ~ Hayley-Jenifer, author of Kingdom of the Moon
#FantasyIndies April 7. What has been challenging about your WIP?
One of the most challenging things about my WIP is taking a step back from it to figure out what to do next. Reading through the story so many times made me hit more than one wall, but I’ve been really lucky with the amazing people who love this story too who’ve helped me through the rough patches! ~ Hayley-Jenifer, author of Kingdom of the Moon
I'm so excited to share a snippet from my book! It was interesting to see how demanding each of the characters are throughout the book (and what pushes them to demand!) but this is my favourite. ~ Hayley-Jenifer, author of Kingdom of the Moon
Attention, Brandon Sanderson fans! Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to put me in the position to write full-time by turning me into a multi-millionaire. This post will NOT self-destruct in 5 seconds. 😎 @bookstodon
Some of the hobbies that come up in ‘Kingdom’ are: writing poetry, reading, baking, and going for walks/horse rides. One character also likes to practice magic as a hobby but we don’t talk about that…
Hello! My name is Hayley-Jenifer Brennan and my WIP is called ‘Kingdom of the Moon: the Stroke of Midnight’! I'll be taking over the Asteria Press account this month to talk about my book.
