1487 the cathedral provost Thomas Rode was slain during the so-called Rostocker Domfehde. This ,Murder stone' was initially placed at the scene of the crime, but today stands in the Monastery of the Holy Cross. @medievodons

in 1948, 54 Italian civilians were massacred in Mogadishu and 55 were wounded. The British authorities did nothing to stop the massacre. 14 Somali died, amongst them Hawo Tako, whilst protecting an Italian. However her image has being used as a symbol of tge independence.

An inspiring tomb: probably after seeing this tomb, Philip Larkin wrote the poem "An Arundel Tomb". The tomb shows Eleanor of Lancaster, who died 1372, next to her second husband, Richard FitzAlan. @medievodons

1499 died John Cicero, Elector of Brandenburg. He was first buried in the monastery of Lehnin. His mortal remains were later transferred to Berlin Cathedral together with the epitaph created by the sculptor Hans Vischer. @medievodons

in 1950, Modena: the police, armed with MGs, rifles and armoured cars opened fire against workers protesting against mass firings from a foundry for political reasons. 6 men died that day (3 of them ex-partisans), one of them lynched and shot in the head. 200 were wounded.
