I’ve re- The Martian by Andy Weir. Still enjoying it immensely. I have the original narrated by Bray, not the current version by Wheaton. This space remains one of my favorite of adulthood, and one of the first we were able to share with the 19yo when she became an avid reader & a space science buff. The movie is fine, but the is so much better. @bookstodon

Hey , have you come across any books with misleading and / or bad blurbs? Please share!
I just finished Wole Soyinka's "Chronicles from the Land of the Happiest People on Earth" and.. that book has a misleading blurb with a big spoiler. Wish I hadn't read the blurb. (Good book, though. More on that later.)

Estic llegint aquest llibre i m'està agradant molt. Té un punt d'humor que el fa molt amè. L'autor riu d'ell mateix i de la feina dels antropòlegs. Us el recomano!

My Review of Mole Creek by James Dunbar has just been posted:

https://www.austcrimefiction.org/review/mole-creek-james-dunbar

Pete McAuslan is Vietnam Vet, and retired police officer, now holed up in the family's remote cabin near the small Tasmanian town of Mole Creek, writing his memoir. His grandson Xander is a Sydney based journalist, and they are close. So close that the shock of the death of Pete, and the suicide note found with him, is profound, and worrying.

Amanda Prowse created an intriguing novel about illusions and family drama. It is about what happens behind facades and closed doors and an interesting look into dysfunctional families.

My August round up, yes it is a few days late but I had a busy weekend!
Still trying to be good to myself particularly as I was poorly sick for a good 10 days, yet I managed 16 🤷🏼‍♀️ & some of the usual added bits too. This month will definitely be less as I’m on holiday soon & will NOT be reviewing whilst I’m away ☀️

Set in Florence in 1537, The Darkest Sin is the second novel featuring Cesare Aldo, an officer of the feared Otto di Guardia e Balia.

When you find the right book, it can be a revelatory experience for the reader. This is why it was so difficult for me when I went through a long period of being unable to focus on reading.

I felt lost without my books.
