Amos is someone I was immediately drawn to in The Expanse. I was attracted, empathetic, and at one point I realized he started to become an analogue for me.

Even the rugged ops / maker / systems engineer part.

But especially the ruined childhood and the anger.

@dtauvdiodr @bookstodon Amos' character, as well as the others, were remarkably well written and fleshed out.
When I read of Holden's mis-steps and realization moments, and fucking up when trying to do the right thing . . . yeah, I feel all that. 💯🙄
Love the Expanse 👍

I’m giving an Audible trial a whirl. I can get two audiobooks to “keep”. I already know what one will be, any recommendations for the other?

Hi! I have no clue what kind of stuff you like. But I just love audio books, so I had to answer.

The classic fantasy novel 'Northern Lights' by Philip Pullman is one of my all-time favourite books and has a well produced audio book with multiple voice actors.

Then there is the 'Stranger Times' urban fantasy series, written by C. K. McDonnell and read by Brendan McDonald. Purely in terms of voice acting those are my favourite audio books, the narrator is brilliant. But they're also great stories and very funny.

My favourite science fiction book series is the 'Expanse' by James S.A. Corey and I can recommend the audio books for this series as well.

@TheVulgarTongue @histodons I love seeing these posts from A Classical Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue. I always learn something new. I had to look up “cant.” Pretty cool! Reminds of Belter or Grounder languages.

‘Caliban’s War’ is the 2nd Expanse book, a very entertaining SF thriller with some excellent characters.
