Ok, starting into book five of The Expanse novels.

We are now so far from the structure of the TV show that the only things recognizable are LARGE brush strokes and character names. I am totally second-guessing everything I thought I might have watched, to be honest.

Not surprisingly, there is so much more in the prose. Yes I am getting all the Belter and OPA anthropology that I longed for, which the show simply doesn't deliver on.

But for me the TV show also does a bad job at stringing the governments' stories together. And there are qualities of the protomolecule that the show does an equally shitty job at explaining. And was the Slow Zone massacre not in the TV show or do I just have that poor of a memory?

Anyway, I think I may actually watch the show again with my spouse in-tow, just to see - if not anything else - how I missed so many critical plot points because I was watching a video.

I’m giving an Audible trial a whirl. I can get two audiobooks to “keep”. I already know what one will be, any recommendations for the other?

Hi! I have no clue what kind of stuff you like. But I just love audio books, so I had to answer.

The classic fantasy novel 'Northern Lights' by Philip Pullman is one of my all-time favourite books and has a well produced audio book with multiple voice actors.

Then there is the 'Stranger Times' urban fantasy series, written by C. K. McDonnell and read by Brendan McDonald. Purely in terms of voice acting those are my favourite audio books, the narrator is brilliant. But they're also great stories and very funny.

My favourite science fiction book series is the 'Expanse' by James S.A. Corey and I can recommend the audio books for this series as well.

Yo @startrek, tell me something?

Do exist in the universe? Does any whatsoever exist in the Star Trek universe?

Because, if not, then it means there are no Tucker Carlsons and no Jon Stewarts, and no John Olivers in that universe. Probably because nothing needs internal investigations in that society as a whole!

And that frankly blows my mind... 🤯

@halm Yeah, but I kinda reasoned it in my head thinking is dystopian and all dystopian hellscapes definitely require reporters... 🤣

But, as others have informed me, there is definitely a reporter named Jake Sisko in the Star Trek universe who plays an important(-ish?) role. The wiki doesn't seems to have much by way of his journalistic exploits, though. 🤷‍♂️
