Last night I finished Starling House by Alix Harrow. I had no idea what it was about when I started it, but I loved it. It's hard to describe without spoilers, but it's a complex story of families and poverty and bad luck woven into a great haunted house story. It wasn't scary, just creepy. Alix Harrow is now one of my favorite authors, she's brilliant. @bookstodon

The Haunting of Hill House, by Shirley Jackson. You are a woman in your 30s who was never loved by anyone (in particular, your Mother), and when she dies, you get a vague invitation to spend time in a haunted mansion with complete strangers, so you go of course, and it’s the best time of your life, which is not good news, however. 3 of 5 library cats 🐈‍⬛ 🐈‍⬛ 🐈‍⬛.

Just watched
THE WITCH IN THE WINDOW
(On )

Solid B. Unique idea, well-executed, with some creepy scenes- a competent & extremely decent "haunted house" movie. It was a great choice for a Saturday Night Spooky Movie.

Starting in just a few minutes over on https://www.twitch.tv/chilliteracy Sam will be going live to read you the second half of by . It's a haunting unique take on a haunted house, and perfect accompaniment to the darkening autumnal evenings.
