Given the absence of specific communities (or active ones so far), if people would like they could start these conversations over in !general.
I recognize it’s not the same, particularly for getting to those deep dive points you mention with ATLA, but gotta start somewhere, right?
Also I can easily give this go-ahead being one of the mods there. Up to now I’ve hesitated popping into threads like this and pointing people there because I’m not a fan of consolidation, but it’s become apparent some simple meeting area may help to get more niche communities spun off and going.
Seeing as this thread is still active, instead of continuing to reply to people throughout, gonna go ahead and put this out here.
If you’re not finding an active community for something (safe for work, that is) or any community whatsoever for your interest, you’re welcome to post about the topics that interest you in !general till you find enough likeminded people to get a separate community going. This was always allowed tbh, but I’ve tried to make it more explicit and clear that it’s cool.
Hi there! Looks like you linked to a Lemmy community using a URL instead of its name, which doesn’t work well for people on different instances. Try fixing it like this: !general
I honestly think we need to revive many communities related to questions, interesting topics, and overall “lets-have-a-chat-on-something” (preferably not related to what I mentioned above, or at least that touches a broader audience).
Have you subbed to the various AskLemmy/Ask[instance]/NoStupidQuestions/Out of the Loop communities across here?
To my own amusement, I found sh.itjust.works has several question communities that I tossed some posts to here & there.
Also although I haven’t sorted out what I might want to post in them, there’s these chat communities for other discussing other topics besides those you highlight getting plenty enough discussion:
I’m noticing an influx of Reddit users today, maybe revolving around their weird bug they had today. I know this question pops up semi regularly, but for those just getting their foot in the door maybe we can help show them what else is out here on the Fediverse to help them get started....
I want to suggest !main , or !chatter (general topic discussion that’s been kind of inactive), !general, and other just general chat communities across servers that aren’t memes and shitposts, just to give people a low bar of entry to talk about how they feel, what’s going on in their lives (to the extent they wish to share).
Someone looking for general advice, share something cool that isn’t yet part of any community (but it could help start one), ask a question that they feel isn’t a good fit for asklemmy, newbs and forum veterans can talk about their experiences. I think it can foster contributions from power-posters, occasional posters, commentors and lurkers alike and grow the Lemmyverse organically.
As Lemmy starts maturing, there starts being so many communities out there that it’s pretty hard to keep track. I’ve been browsing for about a month now, here’s a list of popular communities I’ve subscribed to that others would find interesting!...

What you wish had an active community here on the lemmyverse?
Your favorite movie, series, or anything else really that you can’t find a community here (or maybe it just doesn’t exist)
A place for random posts?
…like if you’re not specifically posting for content? Or a community without reason?
Why? Are we not doing enough? (file.coffee)

What Lemmy communities would you like to share that we may not know about?
