I usually only play games for about a month before I lose interest. I didn’t usually come back, either. With that in mind I’m going to wait for this to get closer to full release
If it’s as great as Hades I then it’ll be a banger of a game
I’ve noticed that there’s a growing number of games that allow fast drop in and out. Hades saves whenever you enter a new chamber. You can save anytime and anywhere in Subnautica. Most of the games I’ve played lately are like that, where the game itself is more involved but the ability to start and stop at any time is very casual.
I will admit, I have a soft spot for Paper Boats, I think it’s a beautiful track, but you are absolutely right, and it’s sad they’re overlooked! The entire OST is a masterpiece, in my opinion.
Supergiant really knows how to make a good soundtrack. Even Bastion has some representation in my playlist. Cannot wait to hear what they have worked up for Hades 2!
Wait what? Slay the Spire was on your list? Care to elaborate on that a little bit more?
All my Slay the Spire runs start with the exact same starter deck and I do not have extra health, damage, or other bonuses from my prior runs. I don’t get your point.
FTL? What the heck. If I beat the flagship I don’t get any bonuses for beating it for my next run.
I don’t know if we understand ‘roguelite where we get permanent bonuses for next round’ in the same way. In Hades and Rogue Legacy your run will most likely be more stronger than your last run because of permanent upgrades. In FTL, Slay the Spire or Into the Breach you don’t get those - you just expand the available starting gear / setups.
slightly off topic but I’ve been disappointed with ultrawide support and really advise against it for most people. Many single player games that do support it clearly weren’t designed for it and just give you a prettier pillarboxed 16:9, like Hades adding some art on the sides.
And multiplayer games just crop your vision down so you have a weird FoV and see the same amount horizontally as a 16:9 user, but can’t see as much above or below you as they can. Proper support would let you see more horizontally than 16:9 players and since that’s the vast majority of players it’s understandable… but then anyone who does buy an ultrawide has to run it in 16:9 with pillarboxing or be at a disadvantage.
Hello, I guess everyone knows the current state of AAA games in general, so I am looking into other game markets. I have looked into indie games , but while I do like it, I feel the budgetary constraints and dvelopment limitations are a limit to indie games....
I'm late to the party with Hades, but am enjoying the first game right now.
Also, wow, there's a familiar face in that video! I remember watching Greg Kasavin do reviews for Gamespot back when video reviews were still a pretty new thing. (found one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uhb9ZpfU-mQ)
I’m not too good at high-heat runs, but I usually enable Tight Deadline level 1 and 2 first, and Extreme Measures 1 and 2, which is already 6 heat without much of a difference in difficulty. Extreme Measures 3 is a bit wild, IMO, but I guess it’s just a matter of practice, and then that’s 9 heat. Middle Management isn’t too bad either, and that’s 2 extra heat.
Other than that, I usually go for Malphon (fists/gloves) with Aspect of Demeter and a build with Ares’ Doom effects on attack and cast, Athene’s dash and special, which usually gives me access to their duo boon: Merciful End which triggers the doom effects when I dash into an opponent of use my special. It’s insanely powerful.
The Hades community on speedrun.com has some good guides and forum posts on builds — and videos of speedruns obviously, there’s a lot to pick up from them as well: www.speedrun.com/hades
The only game I have ever played is FIFA on a PS4. Now I have a gaming laptop but have no idea how I should go about playing games on Linux. Appreciate your help in advance!
Rimworld (Survival. Very quirky, choose your own survival adventure)
Hades. (Made me feel like i was renting video games for the snes and trying to play it all weekend long)
Backpack Hero. (Indie game, bit of tetrising needed, loot adventure with a decent turn based combat for what it is)
Dead Cells. (Lot of humour packed into a metroidvania platformer. Roguelite gives it a lot of replayability. Reminds me of Hades but sidescrolling goodness)
Valheim (Viking survival game. They specifically wanted to go low poly and get the feel of something like OG Tombraider)
N++ is a very fun puzzle platformer. Vvvvvvv is a very fun puzzle platformer with cool music Hades is an excellent isometric fighter game with cool music 2048 is a very simple puzzle game that’s very very replayable. It’s like solitaire with simple addition Unreal tournament is three gold standard first person action game period. The npc enemies are no fucking joke and is fun and fast
I had that issue with Hades 1. I’ve been following supergiant for a long time now so I bought in early access when it was only the first two areas. I got burnt out and tired of waiting and ended up ditching the game for like a year before coming back, after all my friends were playing it and telling everyone to play it when it fully released lol
Yeah, waiting on Hades 1’s full release was easy since it was EGS exclusive for the entire early access phase. This one’s gonna be harder to dodge until it’s done.

Dancing Shy Guy theme from Luigi’s Mansion, I dunno I just really vibe to it for some reason and it’s also my fave track in Luigi’s Mansion

Heia all! Do you have some recommendations on any strategy roguelites where you get bonuses that you keep between games?
