Ik las gisterenavond een boeiend essay van Pieter van Os met de titel "Red Robinson Crusoe". Hij citeert de historicus Adwin de Kluyver in "De eilanden van goed en kwaad" die Defoe's Robinson Crusoe typeert als »één groot pleidooi voor westers kapitalisme, mannelijke dadendrang, zelfredzaamheid, Britse superioriteit en raciale hiërarchie« en gaat vervolgens op onderzoek uit omdat hij zich "Robin Crusoe" anders herinnerde.
Ik kan instemmen met de vaststelling van boekenblogster Evelien de Nooijer dat »dit wel een boek [is] dat we mee zouden moeten nemen als we nadenken over de groene transitie en dat soort zaken.«
