The two countries, at the same meeting on Wednesday, also agreed to train Indian seafarers in polar and arctic waters at the Russian Maritime Training Institute, which is equipped with simulator facilities.
It’s probably also useful to the Russian and Indian Antarctic programs. They have neighboring stations on the bit near South Africa (Maitri and Novolazarevskaya stations, respectively). Both are on the coast, though they do have an ice runway too.
