Feeling threatened is no justification for invasion
Why does legality inform your morality. Especially laws from a country you despise?

Current day Taiwan is able to outgrow its fascist past by being free from its current day fascist neighbour.
Tell that to Hong Kong, Tibet and the Uyghurs.
Taiwan, just like any political entity should be able to associate with whichever country it wants. Advocating otherwise is arguing to colonize Taiwan.
