Perhaps I misunderstood his letter but it sounded awfully like he was defending Chinese law and the CCP’s ‘right’ to use feeble and ambiguous reasons to imprison anyone who spoke out against the government.
Absolutely mad respect for the guy, and there’s little to doubt that he played a huge part in maintaining the rule of law in Hong Kong post-1997. He is, for all intents and purposes, an expert in Hong Kong law and it’s implications with the mainland.
