Friendly reminder that much like no one is forcing Israel to occupy, annex, and remove people from the Gaza Strip, no one is forcing Putin to occupy, annex, and remove people from occupied Ukraine. It seems odd that this article pushes the narrative that Ukraine should just give up its land to appease the imperialists when at the same time criticizing Israel’s attacks on Palestine, but I guess that would go against the narrative that the US media is controlled by a secret cabal of Millitary contractors and not just its own laziness.

I get that they want to push the narrative that Russia is unbeatable, and thusly we should pressure them to give the dictator everything he wants. I mean obviously Putin is open to a settlement where he gets all occupied territory and can just invade again in another seven years like he did after Crimea, they’ve been saying their open to that since day seven of the three day special military operation. It’s not a sign that Russia is suddenly open to actual peace talks.

It’s pretty clear at this point that the curran Russian strategy is to delay long enough in hopes that they can get enough allies into various government that they can cut off support. That is the only way Russia can win this long term, as otherwise the economic attrition catches up to them and they have to withdraw. The media being cognizant of this fact and what the real world effects of thier repoing are is not a failure of the system, but a all to rare success of human empathy in a industry that all to often chooses greed over it.

I could also argue about credibile deterrence in the Asia Pacific in the face of the imperialists within the Chinese government, and its importance preventing that war from ever starting, but I don’t think that’s actually as relevant to the articles point as they do.

Sorry if this wanderd back and forth a bit, but while I get why the right is working so hard to equate Ukraine with Israel, it’s frustrating to see nominal leftists saying that we have to just give the imperial empire everything they want. For all the article mentioned American exceptionalism, it seems to fail into it by assuming that the US alone can be imperialistic.
