2 women say they were threatened with murder and sexual assault following Israeli vigil in Vancouver

Two Metro Vancouver women say they were threatened by two men who were seen carrying Palestinian flags on Monday night.

The friends had just left a vigil to honour Israel’s dead, and had no idea they were being followed until they were confronted.

“You could see the hate in his eyes,” one of them told CTV News.

They’ve agreed to share their story, provided CTV News doesn’t reveal their identities, because they fear for their safety.

When they were confronted, the woman told the men to “go away.”

But they didn’t, and yelled at the women in Arabic.

“They told me that he will rape me, and my pants will bleed, and I would remember it for a very long time,” one recalled calmly.

“The younger one, he said that he would slice me,” she said.

So anonymous person says unprovable thing and now that get in the newspaper? Then they complain that no one buys newspapers anymore…

trashgirlfriend ,

“2 people make unprovable claim but we make it news for some reason”

ChrisLicht ,

Proof?

Flax_vert ,

That’s the Palestinian way of doing things 😎

McJonalds ,

imagine posting comments this retarded. change your rhetoric instead of generalizing to the benefit of people who want to write off others as enemies

MindSkipperBro12 ,

If the Palestinians didn’t want to be associated with Hamas then they should stop supporting them.

Annoyed_Crabby ,

Solid argument, can’t see an issue with that.

Maybe they should ask the people raping, murdering, and pillaging, if they'd be so kind as to leave.

Who wants to try first?

gravitas_deficiency ,

Maybe they shouldn’t have voted for people who are now raping, murdering, and pillaging to be their elected government.

If we were talking about an elected democracy with elections every 4 years.... I might be inclined to agree, but the last time the people of Palestine got to vote on their government, was in 2005.

They haven't been able to elect a new leader since 2008.

And I imagine they aren't too keen right now to hold an election.

Instigate ,

Hamas were voted into power 17 years ago with no subsequent elections, and won with only ~44% of the vote. The current median age in Palestine is 19.6 years old. Therefore, at most ~44% of Palestinians aged over 35 voted for Hamas, which would make up far less than a quarter of the total population - probably less than 20% of all Palestinians.

These kinds of generalizations do not help the cause on either side. It's only going to help fan the flames. Plenty of Palestinians are just regular citizens who live under the tyrannical rule of Hamas, but would much rather prefer peace. May I ask, do you have personal involvement in this conflict at all? Do you see comments like this helping Israelis, Jews, or Palestinians reaching peace and stability?

MindSkipperBro12 ,

I do not have a personal stake or involvement in any of this. What I do know is that the point of my comment is to help… fan the flames to flare it up.

Flax_vert ,

Huh? When this started I was moreso on the side of anti-israel. I was quite upset at the support for Israel coming from the governments. Then Hamas did their thing at the festival and I immediately changed my mind that Palestine is far more evil than Israel

BossDj ,

I used to follow polling. Then I started to wonder how the current president’s numbers (any president) could change so drastically week by week. Like, he signed one bill, how did he go from meh to great for that one thing? Then next week he’s trash.

Is it that some people make sweeping conclusions using only the most recent thing in the news? Does everything else go away?

I guess it’s better to be willing to change your mind than be completely hard headed.

Religion of peace

Flax_vert ,

Eh, plenty of Muslims are quite decent people so I wouldn’t go that far. Although there is a pattern with extremism.

IWantToFuckSpez , (edited )

They are decent people who happen to be Muslim. Islam didn’t make them peaceful. If it truly was a religion of peace it would turn every aggressive Muslim into serene people. It’s the people who raise them who do, who teach their kids to basically ignore a large swath of their religious scripture.
