Germany’s temporary border controls feel like a weak Band-Aid on a bleeding wound. With illegal immigration and human trafficking surging, tightening up the borders for a bit won’t cut it. This half-hearted move screams, “We need to do something,” but barely scratches the surface of the real issues. It’s a short-term fix for a long-term mess, and unless the EU steps up with a serious game plan, this won’t change much. Germany might slow the flow, but it’s nowhere near enough.
Illegal immigration surging? The numbers are lower than any of the previous years? I’d consider thinking about which echo-chambers I’m part of in your place if that’s really the main issue you’re worried about right now…
This is a dedicated troll user by the way. They have the same modus operandi: post 1 or 2 legitimate posts on non-Lemmy.ml instances within an hour of creating an account, then spam Lemmy.ml’s meme community with porn, antisemitism, transphobia, racism, generally vile stuff.
So I heard from a friend that they didn't go to Poland on vacation but stayed in Germany because there was only one border crossing open and they didn't want to bother waiting for ever.
