Western Australian Man Charged with Aggravated Assault for Using Cable Ties to Restrain Children
A man from Western Australia has been charged with aggravated assault after reportedly using cable ties to restrain three children. According to police, the man detained a six-year-old girl and two boys aged seven and eight after discovering them swimming on an empty property.
A circulated online video appears to depict two of the children tied up and crying.
State officials have expressed shock at the footage, while police have urged calm in the community.
Authorities stated that the 45-year-old man contacted them on Monday to report the incident in Broome, located about 2,000km (1,200 miles) north of Perth, claiming he had found the children in an “unoccupied pool.”
