I think it’ll be really difficult, if not impossible, to hide all Windows-only games, as I believe Steam will still show Deck-verified games and other games that run on Proton well. ProtonDB lets you exclude Linux-native games, so if they have that information, there may be another service somewhere that lets you filter to only include native games, but I don’t know of one.

ShaunaTheDead ,
@ShaunaTheDead@kbin.social avatar

I may be wrong but I think it only does that if you enable proton compatibility in the settings.

“Problem” is that since the Steam Deck came out thousands of games have been verified to be officially supported. Most of them Windows native.

Plus, for many Linux native games (like the new Tomb Raiders, for instance) the Windows version under Proton actually runs better. I think it’s mostly due to the Linux version often being done by an external developers and their contracts running out, while the Windows version is still getting updates.

muhyb , in How to hide Windows only games in the Steam Store

Go to

Store >> Menu >> Your store >> Preferences >> Platform Preferences >> deselect Windows

joneskind OP ,
@joneskind@lemmy.world avatar

I did that already, but keep getting ads for games like Icarus that don’t even support the Steam Deck via Proton

muhyb ,

In that case you should check store.steampowered.com/linux on browser, or go to Store >> Categories >> SteamOS+Linux.

joneskind OP ,
@joneskind@lemmy.world avatar

Thanks for your advice.

I didn’t manage to hide Windows only everywhere but I found a turnaround by using the “Category” tab.

Not as efficient as I wanted it to be, but at least I got the information I want

muhyb ,

No problem!

Well, at least that one works. Though gotta remind this: There are games in Linux category and they suppose to work as a native game however a handful of games don’t work at all due to their one time Linux port by another studio. Usually using Proton fix this issue but this is not something you want so take this as an advice and check the game on ProtonDB and see if the native version of the game you wanna buy works correctly. Also there are many cases of games that using Proton runs better than their native version.

dlove67 , in How to hide Windows only games in the Steam Store

Always hide them? I don’t think so, but you could just browse store.steampowered.com/linux ?

Though it may include officially supported proton games? Not sure, tbh.

I’d like to see how this compares to other solutions like Virtual Desktop. If it’s more performative, I’ll go for it. I can’t imagine there will be a big difference.

lea , (edited ) in Adding humble bundle games to steam deck?

GameHub supports Humble Bundle and itch.io though I haven’t tried it on Steam Deck yet.

Edit: Unfortunately the appimage/flatpak packages are pretty borked and installing via pacman would be more trouble than it’s worth.

Lipriv30 OP ,

Thank you for looking it up and helping out.

lupec , in Adding humble bundle games to steam deck?

Lutris integrates with itch.io these days, I haven’t used it extensively but it seems robust enough. It should also support your local DRM free games and whatnot.

    Literally any file can be added to Steam by right clicking and selecting “add to Steam”

    Lipriv30 OP ,

    I’m using Lutris. Is there a way to “add to steam” from there?

    helenslunch ,
    @helenslunch@feddit.nl avatar

    I dunno but those games will be stored somewhere on your filesystem. It will probably show you where in your settings. Fine the .exe and right click it.

    Dettweiler42 , in Adding humble bundle games to steam deck?

    If it’s not a game you can redeem through Steam, then install through desktop mode and add it to your list of games in Steam (add non-steam game). That will let you access it through the normal Steam OS

    Same, OP are you using a VPN or a DNS server to block ads? If so which one?

    muhyb OP ,

    I have pi-hole but disabling it did nothing sadly. Also it was fine until today.

    muhyb OP ,

    Thanks for the reply. I changed the dynamic IP by resetting the router and now the website is reachable now. However I cannot see any of the images. Somehow subdomains are still blocked.

    muhyb OP ,

    Update: It’s fixed but no idea why it was broken and why it’s fixed now.

    helenslunch , in Does anyone know what happened to SteamGridDB?
    @helenslunch@feddit.nl avatar

    … Would you care to elaborate?

    muhyb OP ,

    I cannot reach it in any way. I thought it was down but it seems the problem could be on my side. I wonder if my ISP blocked it.

    PainInTheAES ,

    Huh me too but not through a VPN. You use AdGuard Home too? Maybe it got added to a block list.

    muhyb OP ,

    I have pi-hole but disabling it did nothing, haven’t tried VPN though.
