I've noticed that lemmy as a whole is much more leftist than reddit (outside of political servers of course)
I can’t really think of a reason for that as Reddit is hated somewhat equally by “both” sides of the spectrum. It’s just something I find interesting.
Lemmy probably feels like Reddit when it first started, all warm cuddly and friendly to newcomers eager to discuss and collaborate around central topics.
I joined reddit on the tailwind, so it was all echo chamber, we hate newcomers, gatekeeping, automod frenzy, too many rulebreakers, too many rules, etc I could be wrong, but thats what I imagine it used to be like.
Capitalism is nothing but a giant pyramid scheme.
Today is most likely some American's last day with all 10 fingers, and they don't know if
As a European it’s now 4th July, so felt it was the right time to post
Modern life is so tied with smartphones living without it is increasingly becoming harder
"God works in mysterious ways" basically means "this doesn't make any sense to me, but I'm gonna ignore it"
Side note, does it count as a shower thought when it was conceived while sitting on the toilet? Do we have toilet-sitting-thoughts communities?
You arent stuck in traffic, you are the traffic.
A vanilla soy latte is a type of 3-bean soup.
Mmm hot bean juice.
Some Lemmy users refer to communities as sublems. In which case we can conclude that all posts and comments are subleminal messages.
When two people kiss, they form a long tube from one anus to the other
People born in the year 2000 don't have to try and calculate how old they are when people ask them their age
I was born in 1989 and the math is HARD some days.
Lemmy resembles the old reddit experience so well that they even emulate the old reddit server performance
Watching TV shows or movies that display Russia as a military superpower is almost surreal nowadays.
Was just watching Jack Ryan Season 3 and seeing the display of force and their movements causes some interesting dissonance given what we know now.
Your lips don't touch when you say the word touch, but do touch when you say separate
My 8 year old son told me this randomly after getting out of the shower this morning.
Interesting how artists don't make enough money from their creations, so our solution is to make certain information illegal to share, rather than give them a universal basic income.
After migrating from Reddit, it’s jarring that comment sections aren’t cluttered with hashtag-style comments that are just links to subreddits like /HoLuP/
I love that comment sections here are like, y’know, discussions and stuff. Not just the same jokes and parroted phrases over and over and over.
c/YouShouldKnow should’ve been called c/LemmyTellUSomething
If we call reddit users redditors, what do we call lemmy users
A lot of people say fedditors but that sounds way too derivative of reddit
When I was a kid I identified old TV shows because they were black and white...
These days, kids identify them by the aspect ratio.
I wish humans could get firmware upgrades

A metric tonne (1000 kg) should be called a megagram (1 Mg).
We should start calling u/spez by his real name. Because most people won’t know who he is if he shows up somewhere else in future.
100 upvotes on Reddit is 1 upvote on Lemmy
At least that’s my calculation right now
Lemmy faces the same expectations problems as every free/libre software
It's the same as with Linux, GIMP, LibreOffice or OnlyOffice. Some people are so used to their routines that they expect everything to work the same and get easily pissed when not.
