You can teach pigeons religion this way. If they happen to consistently get food after doing any dumb old thing, even if their spinning in circles was pure coincidence, they will assume that's how food is obtained and continue to spin.

To be fair Nintendo kind of brought that one on themselves by making the cartridges taste bad.

They hoped that it would make it so kids and pets wouldn't put it in their mouths, but then we grown-ass adults got stupid and started doing that.
