I Ihave a samsung galaxy S22 and want to start playing some old snes games.
How long does it take for a properly working Nintendo DSi softmodded with Twilightmenu++/nds-bootstrap to load a game from the SD card? It seems to take nearly a minute to load a game for me. Everything works perfectly, it just seems to take a stupidly long time to get through the nds-bootstrap process (the first load of a game...
And why can’t I find it anywhere? I know it wasn’t very popular when it was out, but is there really a huge demand for it now? I remember 7 years so, I could walk into a retro game store and see a console for $45.
As the title says, I am looking to buy a DSi XL (yes exactly that model) to add to my chandheld collection. What would be the best place to find some reasonably priced ones?
I don’t see many posts here about the N64 and it doesn’t look like there is an N64 community on lemmy.world It’s the console I have the most nostalgia for and I have over 130 games in my collection. I’m currently playing a ROM hack called SM64: Beyond the Cursed Mirror. It has some pretty challenging platforming but it...
For me, it was the game Rocket Jockey released by Sega Soft in '96. It was perfect. The game featured a surf rock soundtrack by Dick Dale. The entire premise of the game was to ride around on rockets and using long cables to yank your opponents off theirs. Referees were also fair play. I don’t think I’ve met anyone else who...

And what category does the PS2, Wii, Xbox, Nintendo DS/3DS fit into? They aren’t retro, but they’re not really “modern” either...
I have on my desk 2 OEM GBAs full stock, one was originally mine and in great condition, the other was off of ebay and is covered in micro scratches etc, is it worth restoring this shell at all or just replace it with an aftermarket one, theyre not exactly expensive
This is mid 90s, I remember playing it on a PC that didn’t even have Windows on it. It was an alien invasion side scroller. You’re some action dude that has to fight his way through the levels, some of the early enemies are little blobs that jump at you....
It was a really early CD-Rom game, probably 1993ish. You started off in the stone ages using sticks and rocks, fighting off bad guys and solving puzzles, and you’d move through time using the weapons of that era. I don’t think I would classify it as an educational game because outside of the weapons and settings, I don’t...

The people at retropocket.store have great products and it seems that i’ve stumbled on their ebay store. They are selling a GB Pocket Main boards that are either refurbished or completely rebuilt for a very reasonable cost. Does anyone on here have any experience with their work to recommend them as a parts supplier?
I sold my original Mini as it eventually ended up sitting in a case in a drawer rather than actually being played, partly because the form factor was so small but mainly because of all the reports of broken fragile screens from short drops like 2ft onto carpet....

Hey hey blobcat, wavemelt,...
I could list a bunch of general YTers that cover retro games among other gaming topics, but for those who mainly cover retro games I like Big Ole Words, Hungry Goriya, and Video Works.
In my search for the ultimate retro gaming machine I’ve been surprised by the limited options when it comes to controllers for iOS and android. While there are plenty of controllers that you can clip your phone onto in landscape orientation, I haven’t seen any that are designed to play in portrait mode. I see several...
by far my favorite console of all time since i first got it, i love pretty much everything on it. someone actually ported a game to the gamecube in the modern day (albeit it needs Swiss, a homebrew app to run) and it’s just so cool to see that it refuses to die
