I beleive SO recently switched from fastly to cloudflare, and some of the DNS records are taking time to catch up. If you having the same problem try flushing your DNS cache and the issue should be resolved.

brunofin ,

SO has been such a bad source of information for a long time and a toxic community that I’ve added it to my Google search results Blocklist altogether.

    Same. But then I realized that LLMs are stupid and now I’m reading the docs.

    Lmaydev ,

    I literally skip SO results now. Most of them are so out of date it’s often better to find an article or ask chatgpt

    Amaltheamannen ,

    Hey if you’re like me and working on a project from the 90s the outdated info is great! I found a fucking Visual Basic 5 runtime in this project.

    Lmaydev ,

    I do indeed. But at least my one is vb6 haha

    But C# is the one SO seems gives bad results for.

    Damage ,

    Everybody knows that VB versions start at 6, like there’s no Xbox 2

    You never had the Xbox 2?

    Don’t you guys have phones?

    shiftymccool ,

    Didn’t VB end at 6? Seems like that was the last version before the whole .NET nonsense.

    Source: VB programmer in college many moons ago

    Damage ,

    Didn’t they got VB6 -> VB.NET -> VB (series no suffix)

    Chariotwheel ,

    Just tell google to only show results from the past year.

    Awkwardparticle ,

    You are talking like you can get anything out of Google these days. I seriously am using Bing at work. Everyone laugh but do you know who does have their first page full of paid links? This guy.

    TerraRoot ,

    Did you miss a “not” in there somewhere?

    Tbf ChatGPT isn’t current either with its 2021 cut off date

    scorpionix ,
    @scorpionix@feddit.de avatar

    ChatGPT has been granted access to the internet. So it should give more up-to-date info in the near future.

    Or turn into Ultron.

    fer0n ,

    Which version? The free 3.5 I’m using isn’t (at least for me)

    Kelo ,
    @Kelo@lemmy.world avatar

    I assume gpt 4, with internet access plugins

    Grimy ,

    I’m pretty sure that plugin was disabled. Also, from using Bing, it just reads like the first two links so it really wasn’t that good.

    isolatedscotch ,

    the browse feature was restored recently

    magic_lobster_party ,

    Too late. The entire web is infested with garbage GPT generated articles with outdated or false information.

    How did they get it back without Stack Overflow? 🤔

    leo85811nardo ,

    They used Arch forum. The reason it took a while because someone just left a link to a long wiki without any comment on where exactly to look at
