BlanK0 , in Chewing gum as a promotional gift for a RTOS

Damn, that’s a cool way to explain how that tech works in a chewing gum package

KairuByte ,
@KairuByte@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

I’m confused, how exactly is this explaining anything? I’m fully aware of what a hypervisor is and does, but is the insinuation that the gum is VMs?

KuroeNekoDemon , in I like seeing the numbers go up

This is the best part when you finish setting up your server. I was so happy when I can access my backup files and my media server I want to setup Home Assistant one day for a local, private smart home

danc4498 , in I like seeing the numbers go up

How else will you know it’s working while you’re away?

smashboy , in I like seeing the numbers go up

This is me, watching my model train and watching the loss go down at every epoch.

ReCursing ,
@ReCursing@kbin.social avatar

Oh, train is a verb not a noun here! I thought you meant a toy train set, and was very confused for a moment

flambonkscious ,

Me too! We’re witnessing a change in language, here

smashboy ,

Oh!! Haha I didn’t realize that until I read it again 😅 That’s a confusing sentence if you read it the other way. I wonder if there’s a name for sentences that change meaning as you read/hear the later part of the sentence.

ReCursing ,
@ReCursing@kbin.social avatar

They're sometimes called garden path sentences because they lead you up the garden path. Some more examples: https://www.apartmenttherapy.com/garden-sentences-262915

Hmm usually this is where you use the “reset” command in your terminal. Yes there’s a command that’s specifically for dispelling demons. Not sure how do in vscode, as I am a NeoVim elitist asshole

RattusInox , in What I want to become Vs What I do

You mean “I ask ChatGPT how to write two line Python scripts”?

MystikIncarnate , in Every Family Dinner Now

Someone needs to make, and maintain AI systems.

AI can’t exactly fix itself when it breaks.

SocialMediaRefugee ,

Yup, they are only as good as their programming

state_electrician , in X is just better!

No Barrier for Wayland. :(

mcmodknower , in Returns a sorted list in O(1) time

you can even have a case where you return the first element of the list if the list is not empty, and it will still be O(1).

murtaza64 ,

you can make it sort the first k elements and it will still be O(1). Set k high enough and it might even be useful

xmunk ,

I set k to 50,000,000,000… that’s more items than my shitty computer can fit in memory (including swsp) but I am now happy to celebrate my O(1) algorithm.

kuberoot ,

By that logic, any sorting implementation is O(1), as the indexing variable/address type has limited size

Landless2029 , in The AI plugins in my IDE right now

And I can’t use any of them due to legal and IP concerns…

magic_lobster_party , in Infinite Loop

I left a company when management decided to discontinue a product right after we finally made its code more maintainable.

Had a look at the product that would replace it, and it was a bigger mess from what we started with.

alcoholicorn , in Infinite Loop

Meanwhile, Dev of company C driving off a bridge, getting laid off after modernizing the 90s era codebase.

superfes , in Sometimes things do go your way

This has happened to me once, in 20 years of development.

That’s pretty good.
