Watched Dune (2021) on a sTrEamIng SeRvICe which lowkey tarnished the experience

everyone talking about dune, i finally wanted to watch it asap. there’s nowhere to buy discs anymore that had it (besides barnes and noble which is a drive and costs $35 – amazon, even with prime, would take a week (???)) so i resigned to sTrEamInG it from TNT.

the first half was fine enough, but towards the end it was clear they were chopping bits out of the film, very very clumsily. the death scene of duncan idaho and the interim fremen lady were ruined, with jarring cuts obviously taking out meaningful footage, and destroying the immersion completely. good thing i’m not entirely emotionally invested in the world yet cause then i’d be really pissed.

the cuts are really insane because the movie’s originally PG-13 anyway! what are you editing out! why?? as the service helpfully reminds me, every time there’s a scene change and a commercial break fadeout, the next 10 seconds of footage have this gigantic, bright, jarring ‘TV-14’ logo baked in – because for some reason i need to reminded every fucking 20 minutes this is safe for children??

fuck off! why do corporations feel the need to fucking tamper with everything, get their little fingerprints on every tiny little thing? i don’t give a shit that the film is fucking TV-14 why the fuck would anyone need this information every 20 minutes?? fuck off!

fucking sick of shit like this. just constant fucking invasion of art with persnickety little bullshit to be constantly reminded we’re living in their world by their parameters. fuck you, fuck off. i’m writing this during the ending because it’s hard to get invested into the movie when there’s constant little fucking popup ads reminding me oh thank god the MPAA had a fucking say in this. i really feel like i’m on fucking alderaan right now motherfuckers. thanks for being there.
