That’s what everyone says right before they kill something.

IMO they wont “kill it” but instead it will be on “life support” and just add basically noting but continue to push there MTX that people still buy.

The one thing 343i did well with infinite was the multiplayer, same with halo 5, the mp was just really good. The story in both was completely ridiculous and in some cases borderline incoherent without knowledge of the books.

What I really have wanted for a while are games in the halo universe focusing on other characters and fleshing out what the universe has become post-human/covenant war. For instance, a game featuring Rian Forge and her crew with a mass effect style of gameplay would be awesome, and star wars outlaws is close to that style but ya know, Ubisoft.

Or a game focusing on the Spartan 3’s from ghosts of onyx. That would be a really awesome game, and could flesh out more lore with the forerunner that we simply haven’t had before. There’s also the human/forerunner war from the forerunner trilogy. So much lore is there, they just don’t use it and it eventually kills the games.

My biggest complaint with the 3 343 story’s are they are so separated story wise. When you play CE through to 3 (main line games) they are a clear continuation of each other. But then 4 to infinit is like … What did I miss. I actually liked the story of infinit the open world was ehhhh but not terrible.

Edit: but yes they have such an expensive selection of content to pull from and Microsoft just won’t make spin off games or anything. Currently reading “contact harvest” and if a cod developer made a halo game around the start of the covenant war or even before it would be actually pretty cool now that msft owns Activision.

This is why Halo Reach is my favorite game in the franchise. I’ve never played a game where going into it, before firing a single shot, you know you’re not winning. I mean it’s a ballsy story to tell. a story and a game where the player simply won’t win, will never win, and will just have to hold out for as long as possible.

And that’s the literal ending of the game. the game doesn’t end until you allow it to end. you don’t win, you just give up. brilliant game by Bungie and by far the best in the franchise. I wish more games in general took this approach to story telling.

Yes I loved how the multiplayer worked and I tried so hard to get my friends and myself hooked, but it just crashed and disconnected way too much the first season that I had fell out of love with it.

I’ve heard it’s gotten much better but it’s hard to get back into it after being burned.
