I respect that you posted the original context. It's a sad fact that there are people who don't understand others, and react with hatred or skepticism.

Do your best to be patient and forgiving, being snarky or outwardly rude does damage to their opinion of you and the topics you want them to be educated on. They will not want to learn or be accepting if you give the venom back.

And that may not even work either, but if you care you have to try, and don't sink to someone's level.
