I use Podcast Addict and have recently noticed location-based ads in my podcasts. Adds that are local to my large town / small city. The app doesn't have location permissions, so how are the podcasts embedding localized ads?

I would like to create a user on Lemmy.ml, but it says that registration is closed. Is that a permanent situation or will it reopen eventually?

When posting a video url on Lemmy, is there any way to have the post display a picture of the video thumbnail? It would look so much better than gray squares with an outlink arrow in the corner.

I’m using Liftoff but also checked out Connect and am trying to figure this out. (It took me multiple tries just to create an account so bear with me!). How can I find popular communities? I found a master list but it was in alphabetical order and wouldn’t let me sort by subscriber count.

I just checked the modlog, and they keep featuring posts from the instance fanaticus.social. From time to time, a post from that instance appears instead of the post I'm looking for. Already blocked all the /c.

I don't actually use TikTok or even the "sliding" function on youtube shorts, but I feel like my attention span has gotten much worse after they started getting popular. Even watching a 2 minute video feels dreadfully long, let alone a 10 or 20 minute video, so I end up watching a mostly short animation memes instead.

I keep trying to post to a news community and my ass keeps getting an error, was wondering what was up with that.

I tried finding Art instances to subscribe to after leaving Reddit and only found too which were for psychedelic art and erotic art. How do I make an instance for just Art and other instances for other genres? Unless does one exist?

If so, can you explain scientifically how it is performed?
